pots and tossed them into the river.
0:51And the currents carried each
to the home of a holy Brahmin,
0:55who cherished the children
as mysterious blessings,
0:58and named them Arun, Barun, and Kiranmala.
1:02They proved more and more extraordinary
as they grew,
1:05Kiranmala especially wise and skilled
beyond her years.
1:09Once the Brahmin passed,
1:11the siblings devoted themselves
to the home he left them.
1:15One day, a visitor desperate with thirst
after losing his way on a hunt,
1:22The years hadn’t been kind to him.
1:24But under the siblings’ care,
1:26he felt life brighten inexplicably
and was sorry to say goodbye.
1:30Inspired by the king’s visit,
the siblings began building a palace,
1:34traveling far and wide to collect
rare jewels, seeds, and marble slabs.
1:39Their home became so exquisite
that even the divine architects envied it.
1:44When a holy man stopped by,
he told them of a Magic Mountain,
1:48east of north and north of east,
1:50where they'd find their most
meaningful treasures.
1:54But, he said, only a true hero
could complete the journey.
1:59First, Arun departed,
leaving behind a sword.
2:03When it rusted, Kiranmala knew
an awful fate had befallen him.
2:07Next, Barun attempted the quest—
but when his bow splintered,
2:11Kiranmala understood she'd lost him too.
2:14Determined to rescue her brothers
and finish the journey,
2:17she tended to her plants and animals,
2:19donned the disguise of a prince
for safety,
2:21sharpened her sword, and set off.
2:24She hadn't trained in hunting
or fighting like her brothers.
2:28And yet, Kiranmala ran with the speed
of wind and boldness of fire.
2:33She scaled Magic Mountain into the sky,
dodging lightning bolts all the way.
2:39At the peak, she found herself
on a bejeweled path
2:42leading towards a glittering tree.
2:44But blasted statues
were strewn around her.
2:48These, she realized, were the remains
of all the men who'd fallen on the quest,
2:52including her brothers.
2:54Suddenly she was besieged by
wild animals and malicious monsters,
2:58their voices rising
in a cacophonous chorus.
3:01They menaced, snapped,
lobbed vicious threats,
3:04and warned her to leave
before it was too late.
3:08But Kiranmala stilled her mind
and kept her gaze fixed ahead.
3:13She wouldn't turn back,
and she wouldn't respond.
3:17She landed one step after another
until she finally reached the tree,
3:22where a golden bird greeted her
as a worthy hero
3:25and told her to beat the gong
at the tree’s base.
3:29With one strike, she quieted
the deafening din.
3:33And at the bird’s instruction,
3:34Kiranmala sprinkled the fountain’s
pearly waters across the land.
3:39As she did, the once-doomed princes
sprang back to life and bowed before her.
3:45She embraced her brothers,
then cut one branch from the tree,
3:49collected water from the spring,
3:51and settled the bird on her shoulder
for the journey home.
3:55News of Kiranmala’s heroic deeds
and heavenly home spread—
3:59until reaching the ears
of the lost, regretful king.
4:02He paid a visit for dinner and once again
felt aglow in the siblings’ presence.
4:08But when he noticed the table was set
with inedible jewels
4:12and went to complain,
4:13the golden bird retorted that “if humans
couldn’t eat gold, rubies, and pearls,
4:19how could they give birth
to kittens, puppies, and dolls?”
4:22With this, the king finally understood
4:25that his queen was the victim
of an ugly trick—
4:29one he’d been foolish enough to fall for.
4:32These, he realized, were his children,
more incredible than he thought possible.
4:38As the golden bird unraveled the story
of their separation,
4:41Kiranmala determined to clear her mother's
name and fully reunite their family.
