The Ministry of Construction says this change is to make the government work better and follow new traffic laws from 2025.
The Ministry of Public Security says traffic laws clearly separate jobs between building roads and managing traffic. Each ministry now has specific jobs.
The old traffic safety committee had problems with overlapping jobs and poor coordination between ministries.
Inspecting traffic safety was not done well, and the government had to pay for most traffic safety work.
The traffic safety committee was started in 1997 and helped the government with traffic safety. It also did public awareness campaigns.
The Ministry of Construction says dissolving the committee is necessary to avoid overlapping jobs and make the government work better.
Ministries will now do the committee's old jobs. The Ministry of Public Security will lead in monitoring traffic safety and reporting to the government.
Most traffic accidents happen on roads, so the Ministry of Public Security is a good choice to lead traffic safety.
Local leaders will oversee the end of local traffic safety boards and make sure management work continues.
The change will help traffic safety in Vietnam.
