Casemiro reveals family member was overcome with emotion after Manchester United agreed to modify his contract terms

Casemiro has disclosed that his wife was deeply moved to tears when Manchester United supporters passionately appealed to him to remain at Old Trafford for an additional season, following an agreement with the club that resulted in the removal of a specific clause from his contract
The 34-year-old Brazilian player is set to leave the Red Devils when his contract expires this summer, having joined the team in a transfer worth up to £70million from Real Madrid in 2022, and subsequently spending four years in Manchester, accumulating over 150 appearances and winning two major trophies
This season, Casemiro has been one of the standout performers for United, missing only two matches for the Reds throughout the entire campaign, and forming a strong partnership with Kobbie Mainoo since Michael Carrick's arrival in mid-January, as he strives to help the club secure a top-four finish
During United's most recent home fixture, a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa, the fans chanted 'One more year, one more year Casemiro' after he scored the opening goal for the Red Devils, with the midfielder powering home a header from a Bruno Fernandes corner and celebrating in front of the North West corner
In the aftermath of the match, Casemiro's wife Anna Mariana was left in tears, with the midfielder explaining: "Well, honestly I feel so happy, especially for the affection from the fans, and the respect they have for me, which is truly gratifying"
He further expressed his sentiments, stating: "So, it's just gratitude for this love, it is so exciting, and I am hoping not to cry on my last day, as it is such a beautiful experience, one that I will always treasure"

"My wife already cried, the other day, when the fans were asking for one more year, which was a poignant moment for both of us, and now I just want to enjoy it, enjoy all the moments, and I will be a United fan for the rest of my life, always looking back on my time here with fondness"
Casemiro had a clause in his United contract that would have triggered a one-year extension had he started 35 Premier League matches in his final campaign at the club, a target he remains on track to reach; however, Casemiro and the club came to an agreement in January to waive the clause during discussions to formally confirm that he would be departing United at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season
He had been informed by United officials earlier in the season that his contract would not be renewed, but in early 2026, he chose to make the news public, a request to which United duly agreed, allowing him to have a sense of control over his own narrative
Casemiro has just seven matches left in a United shirt, beginning with a Premier League clash against Leeds United on Monday, April 13, which will mark the beginning of the end of his tenure at the club
