Harry Maguire says Kobbie Mainoo could have left Manchester United

Harry Maguire criticized Ruben Amorim for how he treated Kobbie Mainoo. Mainoo had a tough season with few chances to play. Amorim's tactics did not suit Mainoo.
Mainoo did not start in the Premier League until Amorim left in January. Amorim tried Mainoo in different positions, even as a striker. Mainoo had to compete with Bruno Fernandes for a spot.
Mainoo said he stayed focused and worked hard despite the tough times. He hoped things would get better, and they did.
Michael Carrick put Mainoo back in the starting lineup. Mainoo played so well that he made England's World Cup team.
Things could have been different if Amorim had stayed. Maguire was asked about Mainoo's treatment under Amorim.
Maguire said Amorim wanted Bruno in central midfield and a defensive player alongside him. Mainoo was young and inexperienced at the time.
Maguire thinks Mainoo would have left Manchester United if Amorim was still the manager. But Mainoo turned things around, and Maguire is happy about that.
Mainoo had asked to leave on loan last summer because he was not playing much. But Manchester United said no, and Mainoo kept trying to get into the team.
Maguire said Mainoo is a great player who has been one of the best on the team lately, along with Bruno.
Maguire thinks Mainoo is strong, good on the ball, and athletic. He still has a lot to learn, but Maguire believes in him.
With Michael Carrick as the manager now, Mainoo will play a bigger role, which he will enjoy.
Mainoo likes the way Carrick coaches and manages him. The whole team is happy with Carrick as the manager.
