The trial at Southampton Crown Court involves three boys charged in relation to the assault of two girls in two separate events in Fordingbridge, Hampshire.
Two of the accused, now 15, face four allegations of assault against the complainant in the first supposed incident, which occurred in November 2024. The first accused also faces two charges of assault, while the second accused faces four allegations against the second complainant from the incident that took place in January 2025.
A third boy, now 14 but 13 at the time, faces two charges of assault in the second event by assisting the second accused. The first boy is also charged with taking three indecent images of the girl during the January incident.
Jodie Mittel KC, representing the prosecution, stated that the girl in the November incident, who was 15 at the time, first interacted with the first accused through a friend request on Snapchat. The prosecutor mentioned that the girl then traveled from her residence to meet him after he purchased a bottle of Lucozade and they exchanged conversation at the park.
The girl consented to go to an underpass, where she agreed to engage in sexual acts with the boy, who was then 14, until they were interrupted by passers-by, as the court was informed. Ms. Mittel conveyed that the girl had expressed feeling "nervous" but "at ease" when alone with the boy because she felt "some affection" for him.
The prosecutor noted that the girl became "frightened and uneasy" when the second accused, then 14, along with a third boy who is not one of the defendants, showed up and began "pressuring her while recording her" and they were "laughing."
Ms. Mittel stated that the boys proposed a "threesome," which the girl found "disgusting," but she went along with it as she felt it was "the three boys against just her." The prosecutor explained: "The term she used to describe her feelings was terrified. (She) indicated that she agreed but only because she was uncertain about what would happen if she declined."
She mentioned that the boys and the girl returned to the underpass, where the girl felt "cornered and entrapped" as the two defendants assaulted her, while the second defendant filmed. Ms. Mittel reported that the girl conveyed feeling "numb" and added: "She mentioned she was shaking and described how the boys were merely laughing and recording the events."
Ms. Mittel indicated that the incident lasted approximately 90 minutes, adding: "She felt nauseous, as though she might lose consciousness, while the other boys filmed as she sat silently, trying her hardest not to cry." Ms. Mittel noted that, afterwards, videos of the incident circulated widely, leading to others mocking her, with messages labeling her a "slag."
Ms. Mittel concluded: "Regrettably, it's evident that the two boys seemed quite unconcerned about what (the complainant) wished or didn’t wish to do or how she might be feeling, and we assert that they merely aimed to exploit her for their own desires."
The complainant in the January event, who was 14 at the time, told police that she had been with two friends before they departed, leaving her with three other girls prior to the three defendants arriving, Ms. Mittel stated.
She relayed that the complainant indicated that the first defendant threatened her with a knife, instructing her to leave her phone, equipped with an Airtag tracking device, in a convenience store before forcing her to walk to the recreation ground and a nearby field. The prosecutor mentioned that video footage from the second defendant's phone captured the girl being assaulted by the first two defendants.
Ms. Mittel stated that CCTV footage did not reveal a knife, and a female witness described the complainant saying that she needed to "dispose of" her phone to prevent her mother from tracking her. The defendants deny the accusations, and the trial proceeds.
