Two people go to hospital after ammonia is found at Fishery Port Road

Two people went to hospital on Monday after ammonia was found at a place on Fishery Port Road in Jurong.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force got a call for help at 11 Fishery Port Road. This is where Jurong Marine Cold Storage is.

When the SCDF arrived, they found ammonia in the area. They then moved everyone out.

As a precaution, two other buildings were also emptied.

The SCDF found that the ammonia was coming from a broken pipe in a room.

Later, they said there were no more leaks in the area.

They stopped the leak and checked that there was no more ammonia. The people who were moved from the other buildings could go back.

Two people were taken to hospital because they breathed in the ammonia.

When reporters arrived, they saw many SCDF vehicles and a police line. Some SCDF officers were resting and not wearing special suits.

People were standing outside, watching. Some were wearing masks.

Ammonia is a bad gas that can hurt you. It is used in many things, like coolers and cleaning products.

If you breathe in too much ammonia, it can hurt your skin, eyes, and lungs.

Later, some employees were allowed to go back to the area.

Many ice trucks were still waiting to pick up ice for delivery.

An employee said he was scared when he heard about the leak. This kind of thing has happened before.

The employee had to wait and couldn't make his deliveries on time.

He said it was very troublesome and they had to wait. They had deliveries to make later.

Later, the police line was removed and the SCDF vehicles left.
