US researchers looked at data from over 11,000 people. They found that stressed people who eat late are more likely to have constipation and diarrhea. This is because of the impact of stress on the body.

Another study of 4,000 people found that stressed people who snack late are more likely to have bowel issues. The lead author said, "It's not just what you eat, but when you eat it."

Evening snacking may be linked to poor gut health.

"When we're stressed, eating late may deliver a 'double hit' to gut health."

Researchers think eating at regular times could help people.

Dr Dadigiri said, "Everyone can eat ice cream, but maybe earlier in the day." She also said that having a regular meal routine can help. This can promote regular eating and support digestive function.

The findings will be presented in Chicago from May 2 to May 5.
