contractions including the word ‘you’.
0:08Now, these are very common among native speakers,
and if you memorize them, and say them properly,
0:14you're going to sound like a native speaker, too.
0:16So let's pay close attention and jump right in.
0:22Okay, I have here my list of informal contractions
including the word ‘you’.
0:28And you'll notice that a lot of these the
‘you’ changes to a ‘cha’ sound,
0:33so pay close attention to that.
0:35I’m going to say each example twice.
0:38I’ll say it's slow the first time and then
I’ll say it at a native speaker speed the second time,
0:44so make sure you repeat after me each time.
0:50‘don't you’ = ‘dontcha’
‘Dontcha like it?’
0:59Next.
‘won't you’ = ‘wontcha’
1:03‘Wontcha drive the car?’
1:07‘Wontcha drive the car?’
1:10‘what are you’ = ‘whatcha’
‘Whatcha doing?’
1:19‘what have you’, also ‘whatcha’
1:30‘bet you’ = ‘betcha’
‘Betcha can't guess the answer.’

1:42‘got you’ = ‘gotcha’
‘I gotcha some chocolate.’
1:50‘I gotcha some chocolate.’
1:54‘didn't you’ = ‘didntcha’
‘Didntcha like it?’
2:05‘do you’ = ‘doya’

2:16Keep in mind these are only used for conversation,
not in writing.
