What if Jeffrey Epstein didn’t really die on August 10th,
0:03
2019? Some believe the official report is… too convenient,
0:07
and that the notorious sex trafficker is still alive, lurking in the shadows.
0:11
Hi, this is Josh and on today's episode of The Infographics Show, we’ll be taking a look at
0:15
Jeffrey Epstein fake death conspiracy. When news broke about Epstein's death,
0:20
conspiracies exploded almost immediately. Within hours, rumors flooded the internet that the
0:25
billionaire pedophile had faked his own death - with help from authorities… and a body double.
0:30
A set of photographs went viral, spreading across social media, comparing a picture of Epstein while
0:35
he was alive with an image that had been released of his alleged corpse. According to the supporters
0:40
of the theory, the photos showed some notable differences in the shapes of Epstein’s facial
0:44
features – namely his nose and one of his ears. Some people argued that this proved the body
0:49
wasn’t Epstein. They went further, claiming he was quietly released
0:52
from prison, using his wealth, power, and connections to disappear without a trace.
0:57
Was this a global scandal? Fact checkers looked into the
1:01
theory. They confirmed that the photos were authentic and hadn’t been altered. But they
1:05
pointed out a large time gap between the two photos. The “Epstein alive” picture was from a
1:10
2006 mugshot. The “Epstein dead” photo, meanwhile, wasn’t taken until 2019 - 15 years later - and it
1:17
was shared online by the New York Post. Experts agreed that the facial features
1:21
in the two photos didn’t quite line up. But that could just be natural aging,
1:25
not a body double. They pointed out that our faces change a lot over time - especially
1:29
the nose and ears. According to research from the Functional Anatomy Research Center (FARC),
1:34
noses tend to get bigger and droop as we age, and ears can sag too as the skin loses elasticity.
1:40
But they couldn’t say with absolute certainty that the two pictures were of the same man.
1:45
And as the days and weeks went, conspiracy theorists uncovered more and more pieces
1:49
of evidence to back up their claims. And what came next would make even
1:52
the most skeptical start doubting everything they thought was true.
1:56
2Many people noticed a number of strange details and inconsistencies in the lead-up to Epstein’s
2:01
death - like the two cameras positioned outside Epstein’s cell failing the night he died. That
2:06
meant the footage, which would have provided irrefutable proof of what happened, wasn’t
2:10
available. The broken cameras were reportedly sent to an FBI crime lab for examination shortly after
2:16
news of Epstein’s death broke. The more investigators dug,
2:19
the more unsettling the questions got. A Department of Justice report revealed
2:22
that the camera system at Manhattan Metropolitan Correctional Center - the prison where Epstein
2:27
died - was old, poorly maintained, and often broke down. In fact, it experienced numerous
2:32
issues in the lead up to Epstein’s death. These included a DVR malfunction on July 29th - but
2:38
staff only discovered it on August 8th. That was just one piece of evidence.
2:42
It’s well-known that in the early hours of July 23, 2019, Epstein was found semi-conscious in
2:48
his cell with injuries to his neck. He was sharing that cell with Nicholas Tartaglione,
2:52
a suspect in murder and drug conspiracies - though Tartaglione insisted he hadn’t touched
2:57
Epstein. An internal investigation also cleared Tartaglione of any involvement. The official view
3:03
was that Epstein had attempted to harm himself. After that, Epstein was put under close watch.
3:07
He was moved to an observation cell with windows all around, the lights left on so
3:12
guards could see him at all times, and anything he could use to harm himself was taken away.
3:16
But that didn’t last long. After 6 days, Epstein underwent
3:20
a psychiatric examination and was deemed fit to return to normal prison life. He was returned
3:25
to the Security Housing Unit (SHU). Prison staff checked on Epstein every 30 minutes.
3:30
He was also assigned a cellmate who could keep an eye on him and alert the guards if
3:33
he attempted to harm himself again. It should have been nearly impossible for Epstein to die.
3:38
But none of those procedures were followed when he died.
3:41
The night prior, Epstein’s cellmate was transferred, leaving him alone in his
3:45
cell. No replacement cellmate was brought in. The two guards on duty - who were supposed to
3:50
check on him every half hour - failed to do so. They didn’t conduct the required count at 10pm.
3:55
One of the guards - Tova Noel - was caught on camera briefly walking by Epstein’s cell
3:59
at 10.30pm. That was the last time any guard entered the tier where Epstein’s cell was located.
4:05
For the rest of the night, the guards broke protocol - Epstein wasn’t checked on once.
4:10
Surveillance cameras captured the two guards – Noel and a male guard
4:13
named Michael Thomas – spending most of their shifts either at their desks,
4:17
browsing the internet, or wandering around the common area. The pair also
4:20
fell asleep for several hours and falsified several records to cover up their actions.
4:25
It’s worth noting that one of the guards was working a second 8-hour shift that day. The
4:30
other was on their fifth straight day of overtime - so it’s easy to see why they were exhausted.
4:35
But conspiracy theorists suggest something far darker.
4:38
The guards might have been paid off - or even ordered to stay away - while Epstein’s death was
4:42
faked and he was secretly escorted out. The guards initially faced charges of
4:46
falsifying records and conspiracy to falsify records, though these charges were eventually
4:51
dropped. As part of a plea deal, the pair agreed to 100 hours of community service.
4:56
It was shortly after 6.30 in the morning on August 10, when breakfast was being handed out,
5:00
that Epstein was found. He was pronounced dead minutes later.
5:03
And with each new detail, the mystery only got darker - and more confusing.
5:08
Epstein’s lawyers, Reid Weingarten and Martin Weinberg, argued that the
5:12
malfunctioning cameras and other incidents made them doubt that he had harmed himself.
5:16
And they weren’t the only ones. Other people have expressed their
5:19
skepticism. They include Epstein’s brother, Mark, who said: “I could see if he got a life sentence…
5:24
but he had a bail hearing coming up.” Epstein’s butler of 18 years, Valdson Vieira Cotrin, said
5:30
Epstein “loved life too much” to harm himself. Former US Attorney and Senate Judiciary Committee
5:36
counsel Brett Tolman also called Epstein’s death “more than coincidental. Meanwhile,
5:40
polls of the American public show that barely 1 in 5 people actually believe the official
5:45
story - with many believing he was murdered. And when experts began digging even deeper,
5:49
they uncovered even more evidence for supporters of the theory to latch onto.
5:53
Official reports state that Epstein was found unresponsive, in a state of cardiac arrest,
5:58
in his cell, shortly after 6.30am. According to those reports, his body was found in a kneeling
6:03
position, with a strip of bed sheet wrapped around his neck and tied to the top of his
6:07
bunk. He was believed to have died around 2 hours earlier. Even though the guards reportedly tried
6:13
to perform CPR - prisoners even heard them yelling, “Breathe, Epstein, breathe!” - there
6:18
was no way they could have saved him. At 6:33 a.m., an alarm went off to alert the
6:22
jail supervisor - Epstein was dead. His body was rushed to New York Downtown Hospital, where he was
6:27
officially pronounced dead at 6:39 a.m., before being taken to the medical examiner’s office.
6:33
Experts like Michael Baden – famous forensic pathologist and former Chief Medical Examiner
6:37
of the City of New York – pointed out that this was a blatant breach of protocol.
6:41
The Bureau of Prisons (BOP) dictates Epstein’s death should be treated with the “same level
6:46
of protection as any crime scene.” That means once it was clear he couldn’t be resuscitated,
6:51
his body should have been left exactly where it was - so the scene could be properly investigated.
6:56
Photos should also have been taken of the body. That didn’t happen.
7:00
And that’s not all. Baden, who was hired by
7:03
Epstein’s brother, Mark, to investigate the death, uncovered several inconsistencies in the official
7:07
story. For example, he pointed out that photos of Epstein’s cell didn’t match the official accounts
7:12
of how he died - or how his body was found. The images show a chaotic scene. Orange bed
7:18
sheets are strewn across the cell, one hanging from the window grate, others tied to Epstein’s
7:22
bed. Two nooses are also visible - one with neat folded edges, the other frayed and worn.
7:28
According to reports, the guard who found Epstein cut through the noose in the hope of
7:31
saving his life. If the guard cut the noose, then that means that the one with the frayed
7:35
edges is the one Epstein used. However, records show that it was the other one – with the neat
7:40
edges – which was taken in as evidence. Baden’s discoveries didn’t stop there.
7:45
He also found that Epstein had a ballpoint pen in his cell, which should never have been given to
7:50
someone with a history of self-harm. He also noted the presence of a sleep apnea machine in the cell,
7:54
which had its own power cord. If Epstein had wanted to hang himself, the cord would have
7:59
been a much more effective and obvious choice. Baden also pointed out that the marks on Epstein’s
8:03
neck didn’t match a typical hanging, which usually leaves marks just below the jaw. He
8:08
suggested the evidence could point to murder. And conspiracy theorists have taken it even further,
8:13
claiming that all the inconsistent details hint at a possible cover-up.
8:17
On top of all that, Baden – who shared his findings and views in an episode of
8:21
60 Minutes – questioned whether Epstein, who was nearly 6 feet tall (1.83 meters) and weighed 185
8:26
pounds (84 kg), could have physically hanged himself from the lower bunk.
8:29
Photographs of the scene show bottles and medicine standing upright on the bunk.
8:33
Some argue it does not tie in with the idea of a large, heavy man hanging off the side of the bed.
8:39
What’s more, the jail where Epstein was held had a reputation for making it almost
8:42
impossible for any inmate to take their own life. In fact, there hadn’t been a death from
8:47
self-harm at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in over 20 years until Epstein.
8:52
Sure, there had been attempts during that time - but anyone thought to be a risk was always
8:56
kept under strict observation. Former inmate, Uzair Paracha,
9:00
described how he was subjected to frequent strip searches and isolation from other
9:04
prisoners. He was also kept in a cell where the lights were left on up to 23 hours a day,
9:09
adding that guards “monitored us like lab rats.” Epstein’s death shouldn’t have been possible.
9:14
Yet, it happened. And that seems more than a little
9:17
suspicious in the eyes of conspiracy theorists. And their evidence doesn’t end there.
9:21
The 60 Minutes’ special also revealed that a note was found in Epstein’s cell soon after his death.
9:26
But it wasn’t Epstein’s last words… it was actually a note of complaint.
9:30
In it, Epstein shared his frustrations with the guards, claiming that one had kept him locked in
9:35
a shower stall for an hour. Another – Tova Noel, who was on duty the night of his death – had given
9:40
him “burnt food.” He also complained about bugs in his cell. Some argue that the note itself is
9:45
clear evidence that Epstein had no plans to hang himself, but was preparing a list of grievances.
9:50
This is backed up by claims from Epstein’s lawyers.
9:53
They met with him the night before he died and stated that he was feeling
9:56
“upbeat” and looking forward to an appeal hearing on his bail. Theorists argue that
10:00
this evidence paints a picture of a man who was thinking about his future and
10:04
actively planning his next steps - not someone who was ready to end his life.
10:08
Conspiracy theorists argue that the list of suspicious events – the missing cellmate,
10:12
guards asleep on duty, malfunctioning cameras, and conflicting evidence – can only mean one thing…
10:17
Epstein’s death was fake. They also say it’s a little too convenient
10:21
that Epstein passed away before he could stand and give evidence that might have brought down
10:25
some of the world’s most powerful people - including billionaires to political leaders,
10:29
involved in his sex trafficking ring. And now, with the Epstein files released,
10:34
everything is under the microscope. Researchers digging through them
10:37
found two notes that immediately raised eyebrows - supposedly scribbled by Epstein
10:41
on a yellow pad in the days before his death. They’re messy and nearly impossible to read,
10:46
full of acronyms and random words - as if Epstein was just jotting down whatever came to mind.
10:51
One of them mentions things like Israel, guards, visas, and a jet. It also makes mention of a “Red
10:57
Notice” - that’s the official INTERPOL alert asking law enforcement worldwide to help locate
11:01
and provisionally arrest a wanted fugitive. There are also several names listed on one
11:06
of the notes, which some speculate could have been contacts that Epstein intended
11:09
to use to help him escape from prison. The second note includes the phrase “Jail
11:14
Out = 10.” People claim that the “10” in question refers to the 10th of August – the day Epstein
11:19
allegedly died. They see this as proof that a plan was in place to get him out of jail on that date.
11:24
Detractors, meanwhile, have argued that the notes were simply the scrawlings of a desperate man and
11:29
could be interpreted in a range of ways. But the next piece of evidence takes the
11:33
story in an even stranger direction. A file released in early February
11:37
2026 has many theorists calling it perhaps their most important piece of evidence yet.
11:42
The file contains notes handed over in response to a subpoena. More specifically,
11:46
it quotes an anonymous post on the online message board, 4chan, in which a person who claims to have
11:52
been present on the night of Epstein’s death. In their post, the user – reportedly a medical
11:56
worker – claims Epstein was removed from his cell in a wheelchair.
12:00
Online, plenty of people have been convinced by this evidence. One of Epstein’s old girlfriends
12:05
has also bought into the “fake death” theory. In an interview with Tom Swarbrick on the British
12:09
radio station, LBC, Lady Victoria Hervey stated quite clearly: “I don’t even think
12:14
Jeffrey Epstein’s dead anymore, to be honest.” Hervey, who is a model and socialite, met Epstein
12:19
back in the early 2000s. She was also friends with other high-profile Brits who had connections to
12:24
the sex trafficker - including former prince, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and his ex-wife,
12:29
Sarah Ferguson. In early 2022, Harvey claimed that she had been used as bait by Ghislaine Maxwell to
12:34
attract women to Epstein’s parties, and her name appears a number of times in the Epstein files.
12:40
During the interview, Hervey admitted that there’s a “possibility” Epstein is still alive and well.
12:45
And she’s not the only one who feels that way. The files contained a photo of Epstein’s body on
12:50
a stretcher, soon after he was found in his cell. But Eagle-eyed users soon spotted a
12:54
startling inconsistency. Strangely, Epstein had no
12:57
tattoo on his left upper arm in the photos - even though other pictures in the files clearly show
13:01
a barbed wire tattoo around his left bicep. In a 2017 deposition document, Epstein was asked,
13:07
under oath, about this tattoo. He confirmed that he got it when he was around 18 years old.
13:12
Republican congressman Thomas Massie weighed in on this story. He shared numerous images
13:16
of Epstein with the tattoo on display. Conspiracy theorists point to include
13:20
a 2010 email to Epstein aide, Lesley Groff, mentioning tattoo removal costs - though it’s
13:25
unclear if Epstein actually had it done And the potential evidence for the fake
13:29
death theory doesn’t end there. One of the files that generated
13:32
much debate was an official statement from the United States Attorney for the Southern District
13:37
of New York announcing Epstein’s death. The statement, from Attorney Geoffrey
13:41
S. Berman, noted: “Earlier this morning,
13:43
the Manhattan Correctional Center confirmed that Jeffrey Epstein... had been found unresponsive in
13:47
his cell and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.” There was just one problem.
13:52
The statement was dated August 9th - a full day before Epstein allegedly hanged himself.
13:58
Theorists quickly latched onto this as a vital piece of evidence, arguing that
14:01
it showed the death was pre-planned. Statements like this one could have
14:05
been prepared in advance as part of the cover-up. Media organizations like the BBC have investigated
14:10
further, with the Department of Justice claiming that the wrong date was simply put on a draft
14:14
version of the document. The DOJ called the incident “an unfortunate typo,” adding “Any
14:18
suggestion that the department drafted a statement in advance of Jeffrey Epstein’s death is false.”
14:23
But some theorists are not convinced. In the wake of all this evidence, several
14:27
experts have called for closer investigation into the events surrounding Epstein’s death. Dr.
14:32
Baden, for example, told The Telegraph: “Given all the information now available,
14:36
further investigation into the cause and manner of death is warranted.”
14:40
Meanwhile, conspiracy communities online have begun to speculate where Epstein could
14:44
be hiding out - if he is still alive. Back in 2020, a so-called “guerrilla
14:48
filmmaking/news” group called ABQ RAW published a video claiming they saw
14:53
Epstein alive on a New Mexico ranch - believed to be Zorro Ranch, part of his vast estate.
14:58
The financier had even once talked about turning the ranch into a kind of “baby-making factory,”
15:03
where he planned to impregnate up to 20 women at a time to spread his DNA as widely as possible.
15:09
Analysts called the video fake, but alleged videos and images of Epstein in various locations have
15:14
continued to pop up over the years. In early February 2026, images spread
15:18
across social media claiming to show Epstein walking the streets of Tel Aviv in Israel.
15:23
Millions have seen the pictures, which show a man who looks a lot like Epstein,
15:27
but with long white hair and a beard. However, experts have discredited
15:31
these images, stating that they were made by AI. But could Epstein be hiding somewhere unexpected?
15:36
In February 2026, researchers tracked down a YouTube profile with the username: littlestjeff1.
15:43
Digging deeper, they discovered that a Fortnite player was using that exact same name and was
15:47
believed to be active in Israel. This tied into theories that if Epstein is alive,
15:52
Israel would be a logical place for him to hide out, given his ties to the country.
15:56
Epic Games, the company behind Fortnite, issued a statement to say that Epstein wasn’t playing
16:00
their game. It was just a random player who had changed their username as a prank.
16:04
While these pieces of evidence have been refuted, many still believe that Epstein could be alive -
16:09
either in Israel or somewhere else, far from the public eye, possibly with a new look and identity.
16:14
Given his enormous wealth and vast network of powerful connections, people say it’s not hard to
16:18
imagine how he could have orchestrated his escape - creating a fake death story to cover his tracks
16:23
and keep anyone from finding him. But like any conspiracy theory,
16:27
this is one that divides opinion. Some call it far-fetched, others believe in it wholeheartedly.
16:32
With all the contradictions and strange events, what really happened on the night of August 10th,
16:36
2019, remains a mystery. Even with the released Epstein files,
16:40
so many questions are still unanswered. Millions are left asking the same thing. Will we
16:44
ever know the full truth about Jeffrey Epstein - who he really was, how he died, and the horrifying
16:50
crimes he and his associates carried out? To find out how we got here, check out The
