Greggs customers are begging for 'secret menu' item to be brought to whole of UK

Greggs is a staple in many Brits' lives. Whether you're feeling peckish, are in need of a coffee, or looking for a sweet treat, the popular bakery chain has you covered with whatever you're in the mood for. Most famous for their sausage rolls - which some travel from different countries to get their hands on - they also offer a range of other baked goods, both sweet and savoury.
While most people might already have their preferred go-to order from Greggs, some fans might be baffled to learn that the bakery's menu doesn't always look the same, as some locations have exclusive food items to pick from.
Taking to Reddit, one Greggs fan shared a photo of the two pastries they'd just bought, claiming they're the best items on the menu. "After a year apart I’m demolishing two at once," they wrote on the post, which included a photo of two Peach Melba desserts inside a cardboard box.
Peach Melba is a popular sweet treat in the North East of England, frequently described as a regional delicacy. It is often found in local bakeries as a pastry-based item, consisting of cream, icing, and peaches, or as a giant, shareable, or individual cake-like version.
Greggs' website reveals that this dessert dates back to the 1800s, and it's currently only available in shops in the North East of England. They describe the dessert as being made from a sweet pastry shell, filled with pieces of peach in a light syrup and sweetened cream. This is then finished off with a colourful fondant.
The colourful pastries soon quickly created a discussion in the comment section of the post, as some were confused as to what they were, while others praised the dessert.
"Never seen these before," one person wrote, while someone else clarified that they are available in Greggs shops in Newcastle, Gateshead, and across Northumberland.
After asking what was in the peach melbas, another user said: "Oh damn that sounds godly." Someone else said: "I could eat 10 of these every day. Strawberry Melbas are good too."
Another user declared: "Peach Melbas are the best thing Greggs sell, only problem is I scoff about three or four each time, just can’t help it."
Several users also begged Greggs to bring the peach melbas to their nationwide menus, as one said: "Today I learned that not everywhere sells peach melbas. I’m sorry for everyone’s loss."
This is not the only item on Greggs' secret menu, as the bakery also offers the locally-loved Stottie in the north east, which is a flat-shaped white loaf covered in a dusting of flour for extra flavour.
In London, Greggs also offer a Tottenham cake, which is a sponge cake topped with pink fondant icing.
Meanwhile, Scottish chains offer haggis pies, which is baked pie shell filled with haggis, swede, and mashed potato, while Glasgow also offers a pineapple cake, made from a sweet pastry shell that's filled with pineapple flavour jam and a sweetened filling, coated in vibrant yellow fondant.
