If a passport was issued after 2018, there is no need to worry about the 10-year rule. New passports comply with non-EU regulations.

The Republic of Ireland is not part of the Schengen area. These rules do not apply there.

Brits may have problems with a second passport rule. Passports must have at least three months' validity to leave the EU.

Some countries require at least six months' validity. It's best to check the country's requirements.

Passports must be valid for at least three months beyond the return date. This ensures travelers can stay in the country if their trip is prolonged.

People with expiring passports should renew them now. The Passport Office typically takes three weeks to process renewals.
