0:07Gordon has been pulled away from
0:09breakfast. One of Guyana's most
0:11rarelyseen creatures is high in the
0:13trees right next to camp.
0:17Let's just stop in this tree right here.
0:19I've never seen a harpy eagle before. I
0:23really didn't think we we'd see one
0:24here.
0:26It's enormous. What I'd like to try and
0:29do is get it short and that way I can
0:32get the long lens to its full extent and
0:35hopefully get a really close shot of it.
0:37Please don't go anywhere. This is just
0:41smash and grab filming. You've got to
0:44try and find a position and just get
0:46what you can because this bird is going
0:50to fly and we're never going to see it
0:52again. Okay. to make sure everything's
0:56running.
0:58Oh, wow. Look at that.
1:02You know what? If the jaguar's the most
1:05difficult mammal to see, the harpy eagle
1:09is definitely the most difficult bird to
1:11see.
1:13Beautiful.
1:15It's easy in this place to um say every
1:19second day, this is the most amazing
1:21thing I've seen. This is the rarest
1:22thing that I've seen. But honestly,
1:26there is more chance of a jaguar doing
1:28the fandango through our camp than
1:30finding a harpy eagle. He's got the
1:33remains of a monkey. You can just see
1:35its back legs. That's what harpy eagles
1:38do. They're such they're huge birds of
1:41prey. They catch big primates
1:45and they their claws are so powerful.
1:48They'll grab a monkey, grab it by the
1:49body with one claw, grab it by the head.
1:53Look at those talons. They're enormous.
1:56Huge.
1:58That size.
2:01The harpy is the most powerful eagle in
2:03the world and stands a meter tall.
2:12Without a doubt, this is like finding
2:14diamonds at the head of this river. The
2:17further we get away from people, there's
2:19more animals. And the fact that you've
2:22got an animal like harpy eagle is just a
2:25good indication that there must be many
2:27monkeys here. And many monkeys mean
2:29you've got a very um healthy habitat.
2:34And it's worrying that is completely
2:36unprotected. They could really mess this
2:38area up in a very short space of time.
2:40And that's terrifying.
2:44Unreal. This is so so unbelievably rare.
2:48It is the holy grail.
2:51Okay, it's going to go. Going to go.
2:55This could be the last moment we have
2:57with this bird.
2:59The harpy eagle is the final discovery
3:02for the team. They'll soon be heading
3:04home.
