Aviation security personnel at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's busiest, have been urged to uphold higher standards of professional conduct to enhance their image among foreign travelers.
The Tan Son Nhat International Airport border gate police from the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security on Tuesday held a conference to enhance professional behavior among officers and aviation security staff during the performance of their duties, Cong An Nhan Dan newspaper reported.
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Vu Huong Giang, chief of the Tan Son Nhat International Airport border gate police, emphasized that fostering a culture of respectful and professional conduct is crucial, especially for personnel who interact frequently with domestic and international travelers.
During the conference, multiple specific solutions were presented to improve service quality and foster a professional, humane work environment.
In recent years, the airport's border police and security personnel have been praised for their professionalism and courteous conduct, earning positive feedback from passengers.
However, occasional incidents of inappropriate behavior or unprofessional handling of situations still occur, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
Tan Son Nhat Airport ranked 44th on a list of the world's 70 best airports last year, according to a survey conducted by British newspaper The Telegraph.
Since 2017, the airport has been handling 36 million passengers annually, averaging nearly 100,000 passengers daily, well beyond its designed capacity of 25 million per year.
In recent years, the airport has upgraded infrastructure and improved service quality.
In May, Tan Son Nhat inaugurated its T3 domestic terminal, designed to handle 20 million passengers annually and about 7,000 passengers per hour.
