Thailand's Lychee Harvest to Decrease by 39% in 2026

Cold and hot weather hurt the flowers, and not enough rain reduced the fruit in main growing areas.
Thailand will produce around 1.4 million tonnes of longan in 2026, which is 9% less than last year. The area for growing will be about 1.61 million rai, 1.27% less than before. Yields per rai will fall by 7.57% to 867 kg.
Lychee production will decrease more. The total output will be 22,000 tonnes in 2026, 39% less than last year. The harvested area will decrease by 1.51% to 77,000 rai, and yields may fall by 38%.
With less supply, prices are staying high. In May 2026, prices for fresh longans were between 21.5-25.75 THB per kg. Hong Huay lychees were sold for 20.5-22 THB per kg, and Chakkraphat lychees were sold for 50-80 THB per kg.
The Office of Agricultural Economics said forecasts can still change based on rain and weather in the coming months.
