Former Police Officer Charged with Crimes

A former police officer in Fredericton is facing charges after an investigation.

The officer, Andrew Savoy, is charged with lying under oath and breaking trust.

The police found problems in Savoy's files during a review, but they did not give more details.

Another police force, the Miramichi Police, looked into Savoy's files and found issues.

The Fredericton police also asked the New Brunswick Police Commission to investigate. But after Savoy quit, the commission stopped the case.

Savoy is accused of committing crimes from 2023 to January 2026, while he was a police officer.

He will go to court on August 28. The court will decide what happens next.
