EasyJet Warns of Price Jump Due to New Baggage Plan

Passengers in Europe may see a big change in baggage rules soon. EasyJet and Ryanair currently only allow one small item on basic fares.
Ryanair had to make its personal bags bigger due to EU rule changes. Now, bags can be up to 40 x 30 x 20cm, which is 20% bigger than before.
EasyJet's bags already met these rules, so no change was needed. The EU may now let travelers bring a cabin bag and a personal bag without extra fees.
The European Parliament voted to let passengers carry a small case and a personal item for free. This would allow one personal item and one small piece of hand luggage with a maximum size of 100cm and weight of seven kilos.
These reforms need approval from the European Council to become law. They would apply to all EU-based airlines flying to or from an EU airport.
EasyJet does not like the proposal to have free extra baggage. The CEO thinks it is a bad idea that would be bad for consumers.
The CEO said politicians do not understand the issue and are getting involved in things they should not. He also said there is not enough space in the cabin for extra bags.
EasyJet makes a lot of money from baggage fees, and this would have to be passed on to passengers through higher fares.
