Middlesbrough's Lawyer Talks After Southampton's Spying Scandal

Middlesbrough did not take part in the hearing, but they gave written evidence for the appeal. Nick De Marco represented them.

Lord Pannick KC represented Southampton in the appeal. He is also working on Manchester City's case.

Southampton was found guilty despite appealing.

The EFL said Southampton's appeal was rejected. The original punishment still applies.

The EFL said the punishment includes kicking Southampton out of the playoffs and giving them a four-point deduction. The decision is final.

The playoff final between Hull and Middlesbrough will happen at Wembley on May 23.

Southampton's CEO, Phil Parsons, said the punishment was too harsh. He thought it was the biggest punishment in English football history.
