I visit Amsterdam every year – and one thing keeps drawing me back

Some places you visit and remember with love, and then there are those that make you want to go back. For me, Amsterdam is one of them – I've now returned every year for the past eight years. Amsterdam is in the Netherlands and has a fascinating past, having started as a small fishing village along the River Amstel. It has a lot of history.

Over time, it became one of Europe's main trading hubs. During the 17th century, it became one of the world's most prosperous cities, attracting merchants and artists from far and wide. The city's famous canal system was built during this time, shaping the layout that visitors love today. This is very interesting.

What I love most about Amsterdam is its beautiful buildings.

The thin houses by the canals, with their fancy tops and centuries of history, make the city very charming and unique in Europe.

Walking by the canals feels like entering a living piece of history, yet the city never seems old.

Old buildings fit in perfectly with modern cafes, art galleries, restaurants, and many shops.

I especially love the Moco Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, and eating at Pancakes Amsterdam and Sandwichshop Amsterdam.

The canals are one of Amsterdam's best features.

Whether you see them from a bridge, by boat, or just walking around, they are very peaceful and I've never felt this way anywhere else.

The weather is nice

Another reason I keep coming back is the weather. Despite what many think, I've often had very mild temperatures when I visit. This is great.

During my last visit, it was 28C, perfect for relaxing by the water, sitting on outdoor terraces, and walking around.

It's also very close to London, just a short flight, though I also like taking a cruise for a more relaxing trip.

The buildings are amazing

After visiting for eight years, I still love it.

It's also a great starting point to visit other places, like Edam, making it perfect for exploring more.

The mix of interesting history, beautiful buildings, and charming canals keeps pulling me back.
