Manchester United May Have Advantage in Signing Elliot Anderson

Manchester United may have an upper hand over Manchester City in signing Elliot Anderson due to City's transfer rule. City does not like to spend a lot of money on players.
United's team will try to sign Anderson quickly when the transfer window opens. This might help them get a cheaper deal with Nottingham Forest before the World Cup makes him more expensive.
Elliot Anderson, 23, has been linked to Manchester United for months. He is one of several midfielders United is interested in, including Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.

Anderson's contract with Nottingham Forest ends in 2029. If Forest stays in the league, they might ask for £80million or more for him.
Manchester City also wants Anderson, but they do not like bidding wars. This could help United sign him if they are willing to spend a lot of money.
City has lost players to United before because they did not want to spend too much. This happened with Alexis Sanchez in 2018.
Pep Guardiola wanted Sanchez, but City could not match United's offer. Sanchez joined United, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan went to Arsenal.
Something similar happened with Harry Maguire in 2019. United signed him for £80million, a record for a defender.
City did not want to pay too much for Maguire.
Guardiola said Maguire was a great player, but City could not afford him.
This has happened again recently. Chelsea signed Marc Cucurella because City could not afford him.
City also tried to sign Declan Rice, but Arsenal got him for £105million.
