Man who drove against traffic after using Kpods is jailed

A man in Singapore drove his car against traffic after using Kpods, which have a drug called etomidate.

Ng Bing Hong, 37, was given 15 months in jail and cannot drive for four years. He must also pay the victim S$490.50.

This is the first case where someone was punished for driving under the influence of etomidate after it became a controlled drug.

Ng said he was guilty of driving under the influence, driving dangerously, and having two Kpods.

Another charge was considered during his case.

Ng bought two Kpods for S$80 from someone on Telegram and used them with a vaporiser.

On January 3, Ng drove his car after using Kpods and turned into the wrong lane because he lost consciousness for a moment.

He drove into oncoming traffic on Pasir Ris Drive 6.

The victim saw Ng's car and stopped, but Ng kept driving and almost hit two people on motorcycles.

One of the motorcyclists kicked Ng's car to warn him, but Ng did not stop.

The victim reversed his car to avoid Ng, but their cars still collided, damaging the victim's car.

No one was hurt, but the victim had to spend S$490.50 to fix his car.

The victim called the police, who found things related to vaping in Ng's car.

The police also found vaporisers and pods on Ng, and etomidate was in his blood.

The prosecutor said etomidate is a strong drug that should only be used in hospitals with a doctor's supervision.

When people inhale etomidate, it can cause serious health problems and has been linked to accidents and deaths.

The prosecutor said many people have been caught with etomidate and vapes, and some accidents have been fatal.

From 2023 to 2025, there were 38 accidents caused by drugs, including etomidate, and 19 of them were fatal.
