Millions of iPhone Users Could Get £77 Compensation

Which? says many iCloud users could get money back. Up to 39.7 million users might get a payout.

Many iPhone users might get compensation after a lawsuit against Apple was allowed to proceed.

If the lawsuit is successful, up to 39.7 million iCloud users could get up to £77 each. Which? says this could happen.

Which? thinks Apple broke UK competition law by favoring its iCloud storage.

Which? says users were trapped into using Apple's services and paid too much. Apple users get some free storage, then can pay for more.

iCloud subscriptions cost from 99p a month for 50GB to £54.99 a month for 12TB.

The Competition Appeal Tribunal allowed Which? to move forward with the claim. Apple said it rejects the claims and will appeal.

People who used iCloud between November 8, 2018, and June 8, 2026, and lived in the UK, will be included in the claim unless they opt out.

The deadline to opt out is October 8, 2026.

If you used iCloud but did not live in the UK, you can choose to join the claim.

People who started using iCloud after June 8, 2026, will not be included. The case will not be heard until October 2028.

Which? filed its claim against Apple in November 2024.

Anabel Hoult, Which? Chief Executive, said no company can abuse its position and get away with it.

The granting of the CPO means we are closer to getting consumers the redress they are owed from Apple.

An Apple spokesperson said the claims are unfounded and they plan to appeal. Apple says customers have alternatives to iCloud and are not required to use it.
