Dell's New XPS 13 Laptop Challenges MacBook Neo at $599

Dell has announced its new XPS 13 laptop at Computex 2026 in Taiwan. It will cost $599 for students, competing with Apple's MacBook Neo.

The XPS 13 is Dell's thinnest and lightest laptop. It has a 2.5K touchscreen and WiFi 7, which the MacBook Neo does not have.

The XPS 13 can stream video for up to 17 hours. This is longer than the MacBook Neo's battery life.

The XPS 13 will be available later this month with Intel's new Core Series 3 chips. Students can buy it for $599 until November 2.

Later this summer, Dell will add a new finish and faster chips to the XPS 13. These models will have Thunderbolt 4 ports.

The MacBook Neo's release did not change Dell's plans for the XPS 13. Dell developed the XPS 13 over 30 weeks.

Dell used to sell an XPS 13 laptop, but it was not a budget laptop like the new one.

The new XPS 13 is cheap despite a global RAM shortage. Dell has raised prices on other laptops due to the shortage.

Dell made a premium-feeling budget laptop to fulfill its accessibility commitment. This required a change in mindset and attitude.

Dell believed its XPS laptops had to be premium, but it made the XPS 13 more affordable. This will help more people buy XPS laptops.

Acer is the only other major PC maker with a similar budget laptop. It will be available in the US in August.
