Big Poetry Prize Holds Meeting About Its Award

The Griffin Poetry Prize will have a town hall meeting.
Scott Griffin asked for feedback on the award last month.
The prize used to be two awards, one for a Canadian and one for an international poet, but now it's one $130,000 award.
There's also a $10,000 prize for a first poetry book by a Canadian.
Critics said the change was bad for Canadian poets, so the Griffin Trust did a survey.
285 people answered the survey.
The town hall meeting will be on May 25, in person and online.
The meeting will be at Victoria College, University of Toronto.
The winner will be announced on June 3 in Toronto.
Last year, German poet Durs Grünbein won, and Margaret Atwood got a lifetime award. Dawn Macdonald won the Canadian First Book Prize.
Other Canadian winners include Tolu Oloruntoba and Billy-Ray Belcourt.
If you like writing poetry, you can enter the CBC Poetry Prize until June 1. Remember to read the rules first.
