The 79th Cannes Film Festival has started with many filmmakers and stars on the red carpet for the opening ceremony and a film screening.

The festival will have 12 days of new movie premieres and end with the Palme d'Or award on May 23.

This year's jury is led by Park Chan-wook, and includes Stellan Skarsgård, Diego Céspedes, Laura Wandel, Demi Moore, Chloé Zhao, Isaach de Bankolé, and Ruth Negga. The jury will decide the winners.
