Vietnam is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, or anyone who simply enjoys a beautiful landscape, the magazine wrote.

Its editors recommended Ha Long Bay for its blue waters and vast stretches of limestone islands covered with tropical trees and home to diverse wildlife, Ha Giang in the northern highlands that offers breathtaking scenery criss-crossed with steep rice terraces and hiking trails, and Ninh Van Bay in the central coast that offers excellent snorkeling and diving.

"And you can always hop on a quick flight and spend a few days on Phu Quoc, a jungle-draped island off Vietnam's southwestern coast," it noted.

The magazine called Indonesia "one of the crown jewels of Southeast Asia" with some of the best islands in the world.

Though Bali is crowded, tourists can find quiet in places like the central region of Tabanan, with its waterfalls, butterfly parks, and UNESCO-protected rice fields, it suggested.

Other places to be explored in Indonesia, according to the magazine, are the Raja Ampat Islands which are a scuba diver's choice with blue channels and biodiverse reefs and the relatively crowd-free island of Flores which is home to white sand beaches and steep green hills.

Condé Nast Traveler's list also includes Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, France, Greece, Iceland, India, Japan, Mexico, Namibia, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa, Tanzania, the U.K. and the U.S.
