Doctor's solution to stop skin irritation and heat rash

A doctor shared how to avoid skin irritation and heat rash during the UK's heatwave. Temperatures are very high, and some areas have hot and humid weather.
Some places may reach 40C due to a 'heat-dome' over western Europe, causing severe weather. Dr Robert White explained how to reduce skin irritation and heat rash.
Skin irritation is caused by friction between skin and skin or rough clothes. It happens in warm, damp areas like the thighs, groin, and armpits. Sweat and humidity can soften the skin and make it tear.
Dr White is a doctor who specializes in skin problems. He works for the NHS East Kent Community Dermatology Service.
Dr White said skin irritation is common and happens when skin rubs against skin or clothes. It occurs between the thighs, under arms, or in the groin area, especially during exercise or hot weather.
People may experience skin irritation, heat rash, and sun damage during hot weather.
Skin irritation can cause redness, burning, and blisters. It can also lead to skin infections or darkening of the skin.
Dr White advises keeping the area clean and using creams like Sudocrem or Aloe Vera. He also suggests using a mild steroid cream for a short time.
To prevent skin irritation, avoid tight clothes and wear breathable fabrics like cotton. Applying lubricants before exercise can help reduce friction.
Dr White said people who sweat more or are not used to hot weather may get heat rash. It happens when sweat gets trapped in pores, causing inflammation.
The health expert shared how to cope with heatwave health issues.
Heat rash is common in hot, humid weather and happens when skin rubs against skin or clothes. The best treatment is to cool the skin and keep it dry.
Using anti-itch creams or hydrocortisone cream can help. Avoid ointments or oil-based products, and take oral antihistamines for severe itch.
Dr White said prevention is better than cure. Wear loose clothes, minimize exertion in hot environments, and stay hydrated.
