Travel + Leisure asked cabin crew about their experiences, and some shared surprising stories about unhygienic planes.

A flight attendant named Joy saw a passenger put their feet on a tray table.

Joy also saw someone stand up, have their pants fall down, and sit back down without pulling them up. The seat gets cleaned between flights.

A cabin crew member advises against letting toddlers go to the bathroom barefoot.

The crew member says the bathroom has pee everywhere and is not like home. Passengers should not let their toddlers go in barefoot.

Aviation workers want passengers to think about their behavior on flights, as small mistakes can affect everyone.

Amara, a three-year worker, says some passengers think they know how to behave on planes because they fly often.

However, these passengers often do annoying things like taking phone calls in the air.

Flight attendants are not allowed to lift your carry-on bags.

Jorge, with four years of experience, says passengers often assume attendants will help lift bags into bins, but they are not allowed to due to risk.

If you pack too much, the crew can check your bags instead.

A flight attendant recently shared the little lies they tell passengers for their own good.

For example, they might give a business class passenger decaf coffee at night to help them sleep.

Passengers might also be misled when asking for the cabin to be warmed up.

The attendants might say they will turn up the temperature, but they often don't because they get warm from walking around.
