Emma Raducanu will miss out on a lot of money after pulling out of Wimbledon.

Emma Raducanu will not be able to compete for a lot of prize money after withdrawing from Wimbledon. She pulled out just before her first match against Antonia Ruzic.

She said she would pull out of the tournament due to a stress fracture. Raducanu had a right lower leg injury since the Queen's final.

There were concerns about her playing at Wimbledon when she stopped a training session and had a bandage on her leg. A scan showed the injury was worse, so she had to withdraw.

Raducanu will still get £40,000 because she withdrew before playing. This is half of the first-round prize money.

If a player gets hurt and withdraws before their first match, they get half of the prize money. The player who replaces them gets the other half.

Her injury means she will not earn up to £3,560,000 in prize money at Wimbledon.

Raducanu won the US Open in 2021 and reached the third round of Wimbledon last year.

She played in the final of the HSBC Championships recently.

Raducanu said on social media: 'I'm sad to say I've had to withdraw from Wimbledon.'

She wrote: 'I tried to get ready for the match, but the problem I had got worse and I have a stress fracture, so I have to stop.'

She said: 'Playing at Wimbledon in front of my home crowd means a lot to me, so this is hard to accept.'
