Couple Sells Everything to Live in a Van and Travel the World

A couple sold everything to buy a campervan and travel. They spend £30 a day. Kath Cross, 49, and Stuart Hall, 48, have traveled 25,000 miles.

The pair live in a 7.5m Mercedes Sprinter. They have toured 15 countries and will visit 20 by the time they return from Montenegro.

The couple work on the road full-time. They create travel content and spend £900 to £1,200 a month, which is cheaper than Kath's old rent.

They budget £30 to £40 a day. Half of it goes to fuel. Kath said they made a choice between one life and another and don't regret it.

Kath said selling her possessions made her feel free. She realized that things own us, not the other way around.

The more she sold, the freer she felt. Life owns us, and we should own it.

Kath and Stuart met in a walking group. They bonded over their love of nature and the outdoors.

Kath had a dream to drive to the Sahara. Stuart already owned a van, and they visited Scotland together.

Stuart works as a truck driver when they visit the UK. They produce content for Vanavigation together.

Kath said life is cheaper in the van. They don't need two wages and spend £1000 a month.

The pair have driven 3,000 miles to Denmark and back, 7,000 miles around Spain and Portugal, and 2,000 miles to Scotland.

Their next stops are Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, and France. The Sahara trip was one of their highlights.

Stuart said they drove to the edge of the sand dunes and saw 40 camels outside. It was surreal.

Kath said they loved their visit to the Atlas mountains. They met people who wanted to help them despite having nothing.

They helped a guy stuck in the snow, and he took them to his village. The family made them food, and the kids came to meet them.

Kath and Stuart have traveled over 25,000 miles on their epic adventures.

The pair advocate for following your dreams and traveling mindfully. They choose to step lighter on the earth.

Stuart said his diesel van has a smaller carbon footprint than a three-bed house. They don't buy new stuff and live lightly on plastics.

Kath said you can't dream yourself into this life. You have to make intentional decisions to get here.
