I tried the popular 3-2-1 packing method - it gets one thing wrong

I needed to pack clothes for three nights.

I'm a chronic over-packer. The words 'hand luggage only' scare me. I take too many clothes on short trips.

TikTok has packing hacks. The 5-4-3-2-1 method caught my eye. It's simple: pack five tops, four bottoms, three shoes, two layers, and one extra item.

Neutral colors help mix and match tops and bottoms.

My trip was three nights, so I used the 3-2-1 method: three tops, two bottoms, and one extra pair of shoes.

The first problem is nights out. One dress isn't enough for many nights out.

I added essentials like pyjamas and minimal makeup.

I felt smug with my capsule wardrobe, but I needed a change of clothes after the plane and queue.

My suitcase was lighter, but spare items would have been useful.

I changed my top and bought another t-shirt because I needed something clean.

I liked the packing method. It makes unpacking and getting ready easier.

The method needs adaptations to work. It's good for city breaks with mild weather.
