easyJet says to take a copy of your insurance policy with you and save the emergency number in your phone. The airline explained: 'A European Health Insurance Card only gives you basic medical care in some countries; it doesn't cover getting you back home.'

Secondly, easyJet told passengers to share their travel plans with someone they trust. 'Leave a copy of your travel details with a family member or emergency contact,' the airline said.

The UK Global Health Insurance Card helps holidaymakers get healthcare without paying more than locals in the European Economic Area.

The NHS says: 'The UK Global Health Insurance Card lets you get necessary healthcare in the European Economic Area on the same basis as a local resident. This may be free or require a payment like a local resident would pay.'

The UK GHIC replaced the European Health Insurance Card. If you have an EHIC, you can use it until it expires, then you need to apply for a UK GHIC.

The NHS says you can apply for a UK GHIC if you live in the UK. You can also add your family to your application. It's free to apply.
