Isle of Man Air Ambulance Services Secured for Five Years

There was uncertainty about the service's future last year.
Manx Care says GNAAS will keep providing helicopter services, IAS Medical will handle fixed-wing services, and Spark UK Medical will do road transfers.
Will Bellamy says this is a big step in keeping access to specialist care.
He says the contracts will provide stability and focus on safety and patient outcomes.
The air bridge to the UK helps transfer patients to specialist hospitals quickly.
In March 2025, Manx Care said it could not keep funding the helicopter service.
A temporary one-year contract was agreed, with funding changing to per-mission and GNAAS increasing fundraising.
The helicopter service has been vital since 2022.
All contracts are for five years, with an option to extend for two more years.
GNAAS responds to around 20 incidents a year on the Isle of Man.
IAS Medical says the service is a lifeline for patients needing specialist care.
The long-term agreement will support future plans, like expanding to a day-and-night service.
Spark UK Medical is proud to support the emergency air bridge with safe road ambulance services.
