0:04up on before season 3 of House of the

0:07Dragon drops. Forget the worst ending of

0:09any TV show ever. It's time to travel

0:12back 172 years into the past, and check

0:15in on the Targaryenss, who are living in

0:17a peaceful era and mad chilling with

0:19their numerous dragons. Life is mostly

0:22pretty good, but there is an issue of

0:24succession. King Viseris only has one

0:26daughter, Reineer. Since male heirs are

0:29the norm, Viseris's brother Damon would

0:31be the predictable leading candidate for

0:33the Iron Throne. But he's a bit of a

0:35rogue and might not be suited for

0:37leadership in peace time, as evidenced

0:38by the way he deals with crime as the

0:40newly appointed head of the city watch.

0:43Good thing Viseris's wife is pregnant

0:44with another child, right? Oop, never

0:47mind. She dies in childbirth. And that's

0:49pretty much that. Following this

0:50tragedy, Damon heads off to a brothel

0:53and makes an off-color joke about it.

0:54This comes back to haunt him when Otto

0:56High Tower, the hand of the king, who

0:58isn't a big fan of Damon, hears about it

1:00and uses the gaff to get him banished

1:02from King's Landing. You are to return

1:04to Runstone and your lady wife at once,

1:07and you are to do so without quarrel.

1:10>> Meanwhile, Viseris officially names

1:11Reineer as his heir. At first, Damon

1:14more or less plans to ignore this

1:15development, but Rineer flies to

1:17Dragonstone to set things straight.

1:20Since Viseris is still capable of

1:22producing more heirs, he sets off to

1:23snag a new wife and get to procreating.

1:26His master of ships, Corus the sea

1:28snake, Valarian offers up his daughter,

1:30but she's uh a bit young. Enter Allison

1:34High Tower, best friend of Reineer and

1:36daughter of Otto High Tower, the current

1:38hand of the king who has plans of

1:40snagging the Iron Throne for his family.

1:42She's kind of young, too, but not too

1:44young to woo the king. Before long, she

1:46gives birth to her first child, Aegon.

1:48It's assumed that he'll now be named the

1:50official heir, but nope. Viseris is dead

1:53set on Rineer inheriting the Iron

1:55Throne. A few years later, we see that

1:57Damon is busy quelling a rebellion in

1:59the Stepstones. There's a whole sequence

2:00where he pretty much deals with the

2:02whole thing himself, and it's about as

2:03badass as it gets in this show. Upon his

2:06return to King's Landing, Viseris

2:07forgives him and welcomes him back into

2:09the family. During a secret night out on

2:11the town, Damon and Reineer almost took

2:14up in a brothel. Upon returning home,

2:16Reineer, who's all hot and bothered,

2:17decides to hook up with her bodyguard,

2:19Sir Kristen Cole. Obviously, this is

2:22kind of against the rules, so it's best

2:23kept hush- hush. But one of Auto High

2:25Tower's spies lets him in on their near

2:28Trist, so he takes the news to Viseris.

2:30>> Damon and Reero were seen together

2:35in the boughels of a pleasure den. After

2:37banishing Damon from King's Landing once

2:39again, he sends Allison to confront

2:41Reineer about it, who tells her that

2:43nothing happened, which is kind of true,

2:45but also not since she did end up

2:47hooking up with Cole later that night.

2:49The issue is that female heirs aren't

2:50treated the same as male heirs,

2:52surprise, surprise, and are basically

2:54seen as damaged goods if they have sex

2:56before marriage. After Viseris confronts

2:58Reineer about the rumors, she tells him

3:00to check his sources. Realizing that

3:02Otto will always be biased towards his

3:04daughter and grandson, he takes his hand

3:06of the kingpin away and gives it to

3:08Lionel Strong. In an effort to distract

3:11from the rumors about Reineer and Damon,

3:13Viseris arranges for her to marry Lighor

3:16Valian. He's a nice guy, but he's

3:18secretly gay, so the marriage isn't

3:20destined to be a passionate one. But

3:22it's all good because the two of them

3:23agree to keep things chill and enjoy

3:25their secret boyfriends whenever they

3:27aren't putting on a show for the masses.

3:28The thing is though, Cole isn't cool

3:30with his relationship being a secret.

3:32He, like many of the dudes in the show,

3:34has an archaic view of things and

3:36basically thinks he's a huge piece of

3:38>> I saw my my my wife. Look, it is the

3:40only thing I have to my name.

3:42>> So, it makes sense that he confesses the

3:44truth to Allison after she comes looking

3:46to confirm some deets that were supplied

3:48to her by Laris Strong, the son of the

3:50new hand of the king. Specifically, the

3:52whole thing about Reineer drinking

3:54morning after tea following her first

3:55night with Cole. Yeah, he's a schemer

3:58through and through and knew that she'd

3:59be pretty upset to find out that her

4:01bestie has been having a bunch of fun

4:03with some hot dude while she's been

4:05stuck sleeping with Viseris. All of the

4:07drama that's been building up so far

4:09comes to a head during Rineer and

4:11Lighor's betroal celebration. In an

4:13effort to make a splash, Allison shows

4:15up late wearing a green dress, which is

4:18probably meant to symbolize the colors

4:19House High Tower fly when they're ready

4:21to go to war. Just a guess. And when

4:23Lighor's boyfriend tries to buddy up

4:25with Cole and joke about how they're

4:26both secret lovers, Cole loses his and

4:29beats him to death in front of the

4:31entire wedding party. Masled off. Now

4:35it's time for a 10-year time jump. Reira

4:38and Lenor are all grown up, and they

4:40just welcomed their third child into the

4:42world. But it's not hard to tell that

4:43Lighor isn't the father. It's actually

4:45Harwin Strong, commander of the City

4:47Watch. Look at all that dark hair. When

4:49Allison comes to Viseris and says, "Yo,

4:51dude, those aren't actually Reineer and

4:53Lighor's kids." He isn't into the idea

4:55of pursuing the truth since this would

4:57ultimately result in every last one of

4:58them being executed. Plus, he's a bit

5:01preoccupied with his health. It's only

5:02been a decade, and he's basically

5:04falling apart before everyone's eyes.

5:06They also have a pretty big family of

5:08their own to take care of now, and

5:09they're being raised right alongside

5:10Reineer's kids. Besides learning how to

5:13train dragons, they're also learning

5:14swordsmanship from Sir Kristen Cole,

5:16who's now pretty close to Allison. you

5:18know, since they're both on the Reineer

5:20hate train. As a result, he's biased

5:23towards her kids, and it becomes obvious

5:25during one of their training sessions.

5:27When Harwin steps in to defend his own

5:28kid, Cole crosses the line and says the

5:31quiet part out loud.

5:32>> Most men would only have that kind of

5:34devotion toward a cousin

5:37or a brother

5:40or a son.

5:41>> Harwin retaliates, and it comes with

5:42consequences. Since he's now drawn too

5:45much attention to the rumors about him

5:46being their father, he decides to leave

5:48King's Landing. His father, Lionel,

5:50wants to resign and leave town as well,

5:52but Faceris doesn't allow it. This rubs

5:55Allison the wrong way being that her

5:57father was fired for the same reason

5:58back in the day. Definitely a bit of a

6:00double standard going on there. So, she

6:02complains to manipulator

6:03extraordininaire Laris, who has an

6:05obvious thing for her, and says that she

6:07wishes she could have her father back.

6:09What happens next? Both Harwin and

6:11Lionel die in a mysterious fire. the

6:13second they return to Harrenhal. Did he

6:15really? Yeah, he totally did. Foot Guys

6:18will do anything to get their foot in

6:19the door. If you know, you know. Damon,

6:22meanwhile, is up to his usual

6:24shenanigans. Following the untimely

6:26death of his wife, he sets his sights on

6:28Lena Valarian. Before long, she's

6:30pregnant with his child, but she's

6:32unable to give birth and commands her

6:34dragon Vagar to torture her. Her funeral

6:37doubles as a family reunion, so Damon

6:39and Raineira get to catch up and also

6:42hookup. Yep, 10 years definitely wasn't

6:44enough time to extinguish that Targaryen

6:46flame. Elsewhere, Allison's secondborn

6:49son, Aemon, stumbles upon Lena's dragon,

6:51Vagar, on the beach, being that he's

6:53been pushed around a lot up to this

6:55point. It's hard to imagine he has the

6:57balls to even approach the monster. But

6:58he does a lot more than that. He shows

7:00no fear and claims it as his own. This

7:03obviously doesn't go over too well with

7:04Bla's kids, who were of course supposed

7:06to inherit the beast. This results in an

7:08argument which turns into a fight which

7:10ultimately ends with Aean losing an eye.

7:12Allison wants an eye for an eye, but no

7:14one lets that happen.

7:16>> This proceeding is at an end.

7:19>> It's at this point that Rara and Damon

7:21decide that her claim to the throne

7:23would be a whole lot harder to argue

7:25with if they were to get married. The

7:27only problem is that Reineer is still

7:29married to Lenor. But it's fine. Damon

7:31has a plan for that. They just fake his

7:32death and Lenor gets to go live in peace

7:34with his boyfriend. Easy. Then they get

7:36hitched without a hitch. Six years go by

7:40with Reineer and Damon living happily

7:42together in Dragonstone. Elsewhere,

7:43Corless Valarian is gravely wounded in

7:46battle, which means someone needs to be

7:48named heir. Vaymond, his brother, wants

7:50it and claims that Reineer's kids aren't

7:52legit. Man, those rumors aren't ever

7:54going to die, are they? So Reineer and

7:56Damon return to King's Landing to defend

7:58their claim. Viseris is still alive, but

8:01yeah, he's only hanging on by a few

8:03measly threads. Allison and Otto are

8:05basically running the show in hisstead.

8:07Though they can't say with the utmost

8:09certainty that the rumors about

8:10Reineer's kids are true, they can still

8:12cast doubt, which is ultimately good for

8:14their long-term plans to take the throne

8:16for themselves. This is what they do

8:18when everyone's called to court to

8:19discuss who will be named heir, but it

8:21doesn't matter in the end. Viseris, to

8:23everyone's shock, busts through the door

8:25and makes his way to the throne and

8:27shows everyone that he's still in

8:28charge. After he sides with Rara,

8:30Vaymond mouths off and gets his head

8:32promptly chopped in half by none other

8:34than Damon. Since what he said counts as

8:36slander, Damon is totally within his

8:38rights and gets to walk away without

8:40repercussions. With Reineer's sons set

8:42to marry Damon's daughters, everyone

8:44gathers for a nice family dinner. Except

8:47it devolves pretty quickly after Aean,

8:49who is older and pretty badass now,

8:51keeps the old family feud going by being

8:53cheeky.

8:54>> Let us drain our cups to these three

8:59strong boys.

9:00>> I dare you to say that again.

9:01>> Why?

9:02>> Yeah, that's definitely a reference to

9:03the surname of their real father. So, a

9:06fight ensues and the night ends on a

9:08pretty low note. All the while, Viseris

9:11is on his deathbed. Allison, ever the

9:13beautiful wife, is with him in his last

9:15moments and hears him mention the prince

9:17that was promised and the song of ice

9:19and fire.

9:20>> The prince,

9:21>> Prince Edund,

9:24>> to unite the realm against the cold.

9:28>> He couldn't have picked a more

9:29controversial thing to utter. See, he

9:30was really referring to his ancestor,

9:32Aegon the Conqueror. But Allison is of

9:34the mind that he was instead talking

9:36about her son, who is also named Aegon.

9:39How convenient. So, she tells everyone

9:40that her husband's dying wish was for

9:42Aegon to become king. Everyone's on

9:44board since they were already angling

9:45for this anyway. Well, except for one

9:47guy. But Cole squashes his descent.

9:49Literally. Aegon's not what anyone would

9:51call an ideal candidate for king. He's

9:54basically just a bro who loves to party

9:55and assault servants. But hey, none of

9:58that matters in Westeros. All that

9:59really matters is your name. So, they go

10:01about setting up his official

10:03coronation. And most people are willing

10:05to bend the knee. All except for Reine

10:07Targaryen. She manages to escape King's

10:09Landing, but not before ruining Aegon's

10:11coronation by busting in with her dragon

10:13and showing them all what's up. Hell

10:16yeah. Then she flies over to Dragon

10:17Stone and gives Reineer the bad news,

10:19which hits her so hard that it causes

10:21her to go into labor. Tragically, her

10:23child is still born, but she survives.

10:26Soon after, they defy the High Towers by

10:28having their own coronation for Reineer

10:30at Dragonstone. Eric, a twin who

10:32abandoned his brother in King's Landing,

10:34even stole her father's crown and

10:36brought it to her for the occasion. Otto

10:38eventually shows up and gives them a

10:39chance to chill out and accept Aegon as

10:41king, all for the sake of avoiding what

10:43will otherwise be a full-out civil war.

10:45The convo ends without a resolution, and

10:47they go about planning for said war.

10:50Corass, having survived his mortal

10:51wound, arrives and pledges feelalty to

10:53her. Meanwhile, Jace and Luke, Reineer's

10:56eldest sons, head off on their dragons

10:58to muster up more allies. Luke ends up

11:00heading to speak to the Baratheonss, but

11:02oh no, Aeund is already there, and the

11:05Baratheonss have officially decided to

11:06support Aegon. Luke tries to leave, but

11:09Aeund isn't about to just let him fly

11:11away. After all, he's the one who sliced

11:13his eye out all those years ago.

11:15>> No,

11:17I want you to put out your eye.

11:19>> He originally plans to just scare him a

11:21bit, but then Vaggar straight up eats

11:23Luke and his dragon, all but

11:25guaranteeing a gnarly civil war.

11:28Unsurprisingly, Raineer wants an eye for

11:30an eye. Or should we say a son for a

11:32son. So Damon heads to King's Landing

11:35and pays some dudes to kill Aemon.

11:37Problem is, they aren't able to find

11:39him. So they end up killing one of

11:40Aegon's twins instead. Same difference,

11:43right? Now that it looks like Reara is

11:45responsible, she's a bit upset at Damon

11:47for taking things too far as per usual.

11:49So he just bails and heads off to deal

11:51with the impending war in his own way.

11:53Aegon, meanwhile, wants to kick things

11:55up a notch and get the war started. But

11:57Otto High Tower reigns him in. This has

11:59been his approach to pretty much all of

12:01Aegon's crappy ideas since he became

12:03king. With the guidance of his new bud,

12:05Lara Strong, who is obviously

12:07manipulating him for his own reasons, he

12:09forces Otto to remove his hand of the

12:10kingpin yet again and gives the job to

12:13none other than the most restrained and

12:15thoughtful guy in King's Landing, Sir

12:17Kristen Cole.

12:18>> You will

12:21regret this.

12:23This is because he's pretty stoked about

12:25Cole's plan to send the twin Sir Eric to

12:27Dragonstone to assassinate Reineer.

12:30Should be easy as pie since his twin bro

12:32is there having defected last season. He

12:34could just swoop in, do the deed, and

12:36leave with no one being the wiser. But

12:38King's Landing Eric is spotted by

12:40Misaria, Damon's ex Paramore, who went

12:42on to become a spy master. So she's able

12:44to warn Dragon Stone Eric in time, and

12:46the two end up fighting to the death. As

12:48Aegon continues to pine for war, Reineer

12:50makes a secret trip to King's Landing

12:52and sneaks her way into the castle.

12:54Knowing that war would devastate the

12:55realm, she tries to make nice with

12:57Allison. When Allison tells her that it

12:59was Viseris's last wish to make Aegon

13:01king, Rineer realizes that he was

13:03referring to Aegon the Conqueror.

13:05Allison admits that she's right, but

13:07things have already gone too far.

13:10>> It's too late. Rea.

13:13Meanwhile, Damon heads to Harrenhal,

13:15which is of strategic importance to both

13:17sides since it's situated right in the

13:19middle of Westeros. It's technically

13:21Laris Strong's castle, but he doesn't

13:22live there anymore. In fact, it's

13:24supposedly haunted, which Damon learns

13:26from a witch lady soon after arrival. He

13:28goes on to spend a lot of this season

13:30having weird dreams and visions as he

13:32works to unite the Riverland houses. In

13:35true Damon fashion, he doesn't make it

13:36clear whether he's raising an army for

13:38Ramira or for himself. Remember, he's

13:40always wanted to be king, and it's no

13:42easy feat for Damon to do this. The Lord

13:45Paramount is enjoying his final years,

13:47and his grandson can't really do much to

13:49help until he passes. So, Damon resorts

13:51to hitting up two of the smaller

13:52Riverland houses, the Blackwoods and the

13:55Brackens, who have long been rivals. He

13:57orders the Blackwoods to attack the

13:58Brackens and forces their feelalty.

14:00Problem is, the Blackwoods are

14:02responsible for some pretty gnarly war

14:04crimes, and this basically causes the

14:06entirety of the Riverlands to unite

14:08against him. Whoops. A bit of a backfire

14:11there. While Damon's fumbling the ball

14:13in Harrenhal, Sir Christristen Cole

14:15leads an army to another strategically

14:17important castle on the coast. Forced to

14:19defend it, Reineer sends Raine and her

14:21dragon there to meet them in battle.

14:23Unbeknownst to her, the whole thing is a

14:24trap. Aund and Vagar are hiding out in

14:26the woods, waiting for the perfect

14:27moment to strike. But wait, there's

14:29another dragon set to join the mix. It's

14:31Aegon. Yep. Fed up with being treated as

14:34a joke since he dawned the crown, he

14:36decides it's a good idea to swoop in and

14:37show everyone what he's really made of.

14:39It doesn't work out too well for him,

14:40though, and Ray Nice proves to be too

14:42much for him to handle. At least his bro

14:44is there to help him out, right? Right.

14:47Nope. Ammon isn't one to pass up such a

14:49perfect opportunity to become king

14:51himself, so he torches his own brother.

14:58Soon after, Aeand manages to take Reine

15:00down as well. The battle ends with her

15:02dead and Aegon severely wounded. Since

15:05Aegon is all burned up, Allison takes it

15:07upon herself to once again act as Queen

15:10Regent. But the rest of the council kind

15:12of wants Aean to run things instead.

15:14Even her secret boyfriend Cole thinks

15:16this is the right move. So just like

15:18that, Aeand takes over and fires her. In

15:21case

15:21>> you of your seat, such as it was, sure

15:25you'll be much pleased to return

15:26tomorrow.

15:29domestic pursuits

15:30>> and he's nothing like Aegon. Obviously,

15:32when Larry tries to manipulate him, it

15:34doesn't go too well. So, he changes

15:36tactics and decides to buddy up with

15:37Aegon and help him recover from his

15:39horrific injuries. Back in Dragonstone,

15:42Rara, too, is faced with a bunch of

15:44dudes who think they know best. Missia

15:46is the only one who treats her with any

15:48respect, which leads to the two of them

15:50becoming good friends, or actually quite

15:52a bit more than friends. With war on the

15:55horizon, both sides gather allies.

15:57Aement hits up the Lannisters while Jace

15:59hits up the Starks in the north. Damon,

16:01meanwhile, thinks he finally has the

16:03Riverland situation all squared away

16:04since the old Lord Paramount has finally

16:07died. But the new Lord, Oscar Tully,

16:09isn't about to be so easily pushed

16:11around. In return for his feelalty, he

16:13forces Damon to execute his former ally,

16:15William Blackwood. Allies are good to

16:17have, but dragons are the true key to

16:19success. While Allison technically has

16:22more at the moment, Reineer does have a

16:24few extra ones chilling in Dragon Stone.

16:26The issue is that there aren't any

16:28Targaryenss to ride them. Being that one

16:30of her knights has Targaryen blood,

16:32Reineer tries to introduce him to

16:34Semoke, but it doesn't go too well.

16:36After this, Sea Smoke chases down Adam

16:38of Hull, brother of Allen, Corus'

16:40bastard son. In case you don't remember,

16:42there's a side plot where Corass makes

16:44Allen his first mate, and tries to get

16:45him involved in politics. Alan isn't

16:48into it, but Adam has always believed

16:50that he was meant to do something great.

16:52And it becomes all too obvious that his

16:53instincts are spot-on when Semoke

16:55chooses him as its writer.

16:57>> You kneel quickly

17:00for a man so suddenly elevated.

17:03>> This dragon came to me.

17:05>> After this, Reineer realizes that

17:07Targaryen bastards are fair game and

17:09puts out a call for potential recruits.

17:11A bunch show up, but only a few end up

17:14making the final cut. a blacksmith named

17:16Hugh and a party boy named Ulf. When Ol

17:18flies by his favorite bar to show his

17:21buddies that he's moved up in the world,

17:22Aeand sets off to put him back in his

17:24place. But when he's led to Dragonstone,

17:26he sees that Reineer now has three

17:28dragons that are all more than ready to

17:30throw down. So, he has no choice but to

17:32bail. Sorry about you, Aean. These

17:35technically aren't all the dragons Reira

17:37has at her disposal. There's Damon's

17:39kid, Baya, who has a young dragon that

17:41isn't quite old enough to stand, or

17:43should we say fly, toe-to-toe with the

17:45main squad. There's also Raina, who's

17:47mostly been chilling at Dragonstone and

17:49looking after Reineer's little ones. She

17:51finds a wild dragon and sets out to tame

17:53it. And don't forget about Damon. He's

17:55been busy all season doing his thing at

17:57Harrenhal. Since he didn't even have the

17:59courtesy to send his wife a single

18:01message about what he's been up to, she

18:02flies over there to see for herself.

18:04After being shown a vision of what the

18:06future holds, he sees that he's only a

18:08small part of the big picture and thus

18:10bends his knee to his wife and gets

18:12psyched up to go to war on her behalf.

18:15Turns out Allison has a few more dragons

18:17at her disposal as well. One belongs to

18:19her youngest son, Darren, who's been

18:21living in Oldtown. She hasn't laid her

18:23eyes on him since he was a kid, but her

18:25brother lets her know that he's a solid

18:27dude.

18:28>> He's stored.

18:31clever. There's a debt with his loot as

18:33he is with his sword.

18:35>> Helena, Aegon's wife and sister, also

18:37has a dragon. The only problem is that

18:39she has no interest in learning to ride

18:41it, much to Aean's chagrin. One thing

18:43she does have as an interest in telling

18:45the future, and she tells Aean that he's

18:47not long for this world. Allison doesn't

18:50like the way things are going, so she

18:51heads off to hit up Reira at

18:53Dragonstone. On second thought, she's

18:54down to squash their beef and put an end

18:56to the whole civil war thing. Her plan

18:58is to speak to the council once Aean

19:00flies off to Harrenhal and convince them

19:02to hand over King's Landing. Reineer is

19:04game, but only if Allison agrees to give

19:06up Aegon and allow her to execute him.

19:09Since he's already maimed, Allison sees

19:11this as a fair deal. But unsurprisingly,

19:13Laris knew a while back that this was

19:15where things were heading. So, he snags

19:17Aegon and helps him escape. His plan is

19:19to hide out with him while the two

19:21waring families destroy each other. Once

19:23the dust has settled, Aegon can make his

19:25glorious return and resume being king.

19:28So, there it is. The Dance of the

19:30Dragons is a definite go. All the great

19:32houses of Westeros have chosen sides,

19:34and a whole lot of bloodshed is on the

19:36horizon. When season 3 drops on June

19:3821st, we'll see how it all pans out.
