0:05When I was 25, the doctor tells me,
0:09you have uterus cancer.
0:10I got the surgery and recovered physically.
0:14But I realized it was not enough.
0:17Rosalind and I, we were married five years
0:19when we found out that
0:20she had multiple sclerosis.
0:22She was never the same again.
0:24She became far more dependent
0:26upon me for day-to-day tasks.
0:29All my life, I struggled with stress and anxiety.
0:34I was losing patches of hair, and emotionally
0:38it was overwhelming.
0:41I hated the way that my body looked.
0:44There were comments about
0:45being chubby and being overweight.
0:48And because of that, I just
0:49stopped exercising completely.
0:55I was coping with a lot of
0:57emotions, stress, trauma.
0:59I felt like I was alone.
1:02I end up trying to do too much.
1:04Sometimes you just want to
1:05you may want to go in the corner
1:06and scream.
1:08For years, it really held me back
1:09from taking on any kind of physical challenge.
1:14I had to change.
1:15I had to have a different
1:17mindset and a different way
1:19of thinking.
1:23I stepped out, and I said, things must change.
1:31The first time I saw Limitless, I was like, OK,
1:33this is for me.
1:41Breathe.
1:42Learning how to deep breathe
1:45helped me to deal with my traumas.
1:47I now have a new sense of
1:49purpose, a new sense of living.
1:52I heard about the benefits
1:55that swimming in cold water
1:57could bring.
1:59That's when I decided that
2:00I'm going to give that a go,
2:01because that could change my life around.
2:04It was like a wake-up moment.
2:06I started using the techniques that I have seen.
2:09I would sit down, and for two minutes,
2:12put my mind to one single thing.
2:15I could have my thoughts without having
2:18to feel anxiety, stress, or pressure.
2:26Watching someone try new
2:27things was really inspiring.
2:30So I decided I was starting the Camino.
2:34It's a very old pilgrimage
2:36route, 500 miles across Spain.
2:38Suddenly, I was able to do
2:40things I could not imagine.
2:42I started doing mountain biking.
2:44I started surfing.
2:48I went from casual jogging to running a marathon
2:53every single week.
2:54I feel that I've let all
2:56the stresses and the strains
2:57and the worries and everything else go.
3:00So that when I'm in the water, I can just
3:02enjoy being in that space.
3:06I just felt such an appreciation for the fact
3:09that I was doing something new.
3:11My wife, my children, they
3:13see me completely renewed.
3:16I have that sense of fully living again.
3:20It actually strengthens
3:21the relationship between us,
3:23because it makes me feel like
3:24I'm doing a better job in caring
3:26for Rosalind.
