According to FlyerBuses, which operates through Leeds city centre, a "police incident" - described by witnesses as a "collision"- occurred at around 7.40am today, blocking Vicar Lane. The bus company said: "Due to a police incident on Vicar Lane, Flyer A1 will be diverting from Leeds to Leeds Bradford Airport."
Images from the scene appear to show an area cordoned off by police with blankets strewn across the road, reports Leeds Live.
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that a 51-year-old pedestrian is being treated in hospital after being hit by a bus on Vicar Lane. Officers are continuing to monitor the man's condition, the force added.
A spokesperson said: "At 5.28am this morning, police were called to a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a bus in Vicar Lane in Leeds city centre.
"The pedestrian, a 51-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment.
"A scene remains in place in Vicar Lane to undergo collision investigation work, while officers continue to monitor the man's condition in hospital".

The Flyer A1 bus - a frequent airport express service connecting Leeds City Bus Station to Leeds Bradford Airport - will be diverting due to the incident on Vicar Lane.

A video taken at the scene shows a double-decker bus with a smashed windscreen within the sealed off area this morning. Officers can also be seen standing alongside at least two cordons set up on Vicar Lane.
The Mirror has contacted West Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service for comment.
