The Government now requires eye tests for drivers over 70. They must renew licenses at 70 and every three years.

New rules may take away more licenses. Most removed licenses were from people over 70.

10,794 licenses were removed from people aged 70-79. 8,060 were from people aged 80-89.

Eyesight gets worse slowly, so drivers may not notice.

The issue affects all age groups. Regular eye tests are important for safe driving.

Drivers must be able to read a number plate from 20 meters away.

People with health conditions must tell DVLA or face a penalty. Penalties can be £1,000. Drivers can check what to do on Gov.uk.
