Why Washing Up Liquid is Green

People are finding out why many washing up liquids are green.
Annabel Port talks about things that show what Britain is like today. She explained why washing up liquid is usually green. This is because of the first washing up liquid in the UK, Fairy, which came out in 1959.
Annabel said the first British washing up liquid was Fairy in 1959, and it was always green. We didn't need the colour, but it was part of 'mild green Fairy liquid'.
Other brands made their own green washing up liquids. Annabel said, 'But it doesn't have any green ingredients. It's just been dyed green, so why green?'
Fairy soap was made in 1898 and was used for many things. It was made in Newcastle and had olive oil, which made it green.
Fairy doesn't have olive oil anymore, but the company kept the green colour. Other companies followed without a reason.
Many people commented on the post. One person said, 'I didn't know Newcastle was where Fairy liquid came from.'
Some people shared their memories of using Fairy soap. One person said, 'My Mum used Fairy soap to wash clothes.' Another said, 'I didn't know about the olive oil.'
One person thought 1959 was late for washing up liquid to be invented. They also thought it was strange that other colours don't look right.
