UK Government Updates on Compensation for WASPI Women

The UK Government has given an update on compensation for WASPI women.

The report looked at how well pension information was communicated. It found that unsolicited pension forecasts didn't greatly affect people's awareness and planning.

The Work and Pensions Secretary reviewed the evidence and made a new decision. The Government still doesn't think compensation is necessary.

The Ombudsman found that the DWP made mistakes between 2005 and 2007. This led to a delay in telling women about the changes.

The DWP apologized for not sending letters earlier.

Compensating all affected women could cost between £3.5 billion and £10.3 billion. The Government thinks this would be unfair and unaffordable.
