He mentioned that family, neighbors, and friends consistently gathered to observe and support the 21-year-old when he played. Although the family is financially modest, they opted to host the celebration to demonstrate their heartfelt appreciation.

They originally anticipated 1,000 attendees but later increased the number by 800 due to a significant influx of family, friends, and admirers.

From the early hours, locals arrived to assist in erecting tents, arranging tables and chairs, and preparing food for the gathering.

Nguyen Tu, 56, a neighbor, shared that he was both surprised and touched by the invitation. "Not every successful individual remembers to come back and express gratitude to the community in such a considerate manner."

He indicated that all his family members would participate. Many townsfolk remember Bac as a kind, courteous, and determined young man, he said.

He reminisced that around 2015, Bac had been smaller and physically less robust than his peers and often found himself knocked down during matches. "Bac has endured much to attain his current position, largely due to his mother’s dedication in nurturing and encouraging him."

Pham Thi Cuc, 60, mentioned that the community respects Bac not only for his football talent but also for his courteous demeanor. Despite his escalating fame, he remains gracious and accessible, she noted.

At the recently concluded AFC U23 Asian Cup, Bac emerged as the leading scorer with four goals, making history as the first Vietnamese athlete to receive an individual accolade at an Asian championship.

During the recognition ceremony held in Nghe An on Tuesday, Bac became emotional while speaking about his mother, Nguyen Thi Ngoc.

Due to heart issues and worries about her son’s injuries, she has recently refrained from watching his games live and instead waits for the final outcome, he disclosed. "I am eternally grateful to my mother. I wish for her to maintain her health. Knowing that I have succeeded is more than enough."
