0:06and today I'd like to introduce you to the Monthly News Digest for ESL learners.
0:11This digest has been available since 2006
0:15and we just want to make sure all of the members know about it
0:19so we thought we'd do a little introductory for you today.
0:22So each month on the first of the month
a new monthly digest is posted right here
0:29and here's the url so if you'd go right to

0:33you'll notice the monthly news right here
0:35so you can click on it and it will bring you to this page and if you scroll down here you'll find 4 stories.
0:42And before each story there's pre-listening vocabulary
0:47so you can read about some of the words you're going to hear
0:51and some of the words you're going to read
0:53and when you're ready just press on the green arrow
0:57and you'll be able to fill in the blanks as you listen.
1:01and if it goes too quickly for you
then you can just pause it or stop it and start it again
1:08whenever you're ready.
1:09And there are a few comprehension questions below each story
1:13as well as a discussion question in case you're doing it in class
1:16or if you have a learning partner that you're studying with
1:19So you'll see you can go down and you'll see the four stories from the month.
1:24And below that you'll find the answer check.

as well as the blanks are filled in for you
1:33and we have the comprehension answers right here.
1:36As well as the monthly digest we have some archives for you
from 2006, 2007, and 2008.
1:47And with each one you'll find the news as well as a quiz.
1:55So it's kind of fun to look back and take the quiz.
