Mother of ABC News Weather Expert Ginger Zee to Graduate from Medical School at 72

As a child, she got a microscope and liked studying small things. Her mom thought she might become a doctor one day. She was sick at home and got the microscope as a gift. She liked it very much.
She became a nurse and worked with babies. She took classes to become a doctor, but she had children and got married again. She thought about going to medical school when she was 40, but she had more children.
She thought she would never go to medical school, but then her husband got very sick. They made a list of things they wanted to do. He wanted to travel, and she wanted to go to medical school. She was almost 70 years old.
She realized life is short and wanted to go to medical school. Her husband thought it was a crazy idea.

She used her retirement money to go to medical school and her husband helped her with her studies. They went to different places for her training.
She became friends with her younger classmates and helped them with their studies. They had movie nights together.
She says she is more motivated now than when she was working as a nurse.
She wants to be a doctor because she enjoys it, not just for the money. She likes her new job.
She will start her new job in July, on her 73rd birthday. She wants to make medical school better for students.
