Ryanair Changes Luggage and Check-in Rules

Ryanair updated its rules for 2026 flights.
Know the rules before you travel to avoid problems. Ryanair allows one small bag under the seat. The rules for this bag were changed last summer.
The EU changed a law, so Ryanair had to make its personal bag size bigger. Now, bags can be up to 40 x 30 x 20cm, which is 20% bigger than before.
Ryanair passengers must check-in online now. You can save your pass on a phone or tablet. Since November 2025, Ryanair uses digital passes to reduce paper and costs.
Check-in opens 60 days before your flight if you have a seat, or 24 hours before if you don't. Check-in closes two hours before the flight.
After checking in, you get your pass. If you don't check-in online, you pay £55. Make sure you have a pass before going to the airport.
If you don't have a smartphone, Ryanair will print your pass for free if you checked in online. Ryanair will remind you to check-in online before your flight.
Ryanair's check-in and bag drop will close one hour before the flight. This is 20 minutes earlier than before.
The change starts on November 10. It gives passengers more time to get through security and passport queues.
Ryanair's CMO said the change helps customers who check-in bags get to their gate on time. It gives them more time to go through security and queues.
Ryanair is also installing self-service kiosks at most airports. This will make bag drop faster and reduce queues for customers who check-in bags.
