Malcolm in the Middle fans are all saying the same thing about the new Dewey
Enthusiasts have already been whipped into a frenzy by the return of the cherished sitcom, with the trailer amassing over 2million views since appearing on YouTube yesterday (Thursday, March 12), reports the Mirror.
Numerous viewers have flocked to the comments section to applaud Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, the fresh face assuming the role of Dewey from child star Erik Per Sullivan, who departed the entertainment world following the original series.
One person posted: "They did a great recast, and I wish the original actor the best."
A second joked as they noted the resemblance between the original actor and the new star: "And that's why they cloned him for the show."
A third wrote: "you joke but this guy looks even more like dewey then erik per sullivan does now lol [sic]."
Someone else commented: "Newey has nailed the facial expressions [sic]."
As yet another wrote: "We are all calling him Newey from now on. This is mandatory [sic]."
Alongside remarks about the recasting, numerous fans also cracked jokes about Breaking Bad owing to the programme's alternative ending, which featured Cranston's Walter White awakening as Hal from Malcolm in the Middle and discussing his "nightmare".
One person said: "I like how Bryan Cranston has gone from "The dad in Malcom in The Middle" to "Walter White" back to "The dad in Malcolm in The Middle"! We've come full circle, guys!" A second fan commented: "Prequel to Sequel to Prologue," whilst a third chimed in with: "This is just his witness protection."
A fourth shared: "It'd be SO great if they made another reference, it would be icing on the cake!".
The trailer kicks off in typical Malcolm in the Middle fashion with Hal (portrayed by Bryan Cranston) having his back shaved by wife Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) during a video call with his son Malcolm (Frankie Muniz), serving as a homage to the original series.
The teaser also sets the stage after it's disclosed that Malcolm distanced himself from his chaotic yet endearing family in an effort to protect himself, his daughter and his girlfriend from the mayhem.
However, Malcolm finds himself irresistibly drawn back into the craziness, including introducing his girlfriend to his eccentric family and their wild escapades.
All four episodes of Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair will be available for binge-watching on Hulu in the USA and Disney+ in the UK on April 10.
Returning cast members alongside Cranston, Muniz and Kaczmarek include Christopher Kennedy Masterson as Francis, Justin Berfield as Reese, and Emy Coligado as Piama.
New additions to the cast include Keeley Karsten as Malcolm's daughter Leah, Vaughan Murrae as Malcolm's youngest sibling Kelly, and Kiana Madeira as Malcolm's girlfriend Tristan.
