One Question to Ask Before Boarding a Long Flight

My first long flight was at three years old. I moved from England to New Zealand with my family.
New Zealand is far from the UK.
The flight from London to New Zealand takes 23-36 hours.
I grew taller over time.
Now I am 31 and almost 6ft tall.
As a teenager, I was not much shorter.
I had trouble fitting in economy seats as I grew.
My mum taught me a strategy to get a seat upgrade.
One question makes flights easier.
This method does not always work, but it often does. I think it works about 70% of the time.
You need good manners and a smile. It is easier if you check luggage.
I ask about bulkhead seats when I check my luggage.
I still ask about seats even without checked luggage.
This is my best travel tip.
I mention my height and make a joke. If you are polite, you might be surprised.
I have gotten entire rows, exit seats, and bulkhead seats for free.
This method depends on luck, but it is worth trying. Always thank the staff.
