Maple Leafs Hire New Assistant General Manager

Freddie Hamilton, brother of NHL player Dougie Hamilton, is now the chief of staff.

The Toronto Maple Leafs hired Judd Brackett as assistant general manager and Freddie Hamilton as chief of staff on Monday.

Judd Brackett will be in charge of evaluating players for the Maple Leafs after working with the Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks.

Freddie Hamilton, a former NHL player, joins the team after getting an MBA from Yale and working in private equity.

These new hires are part of the changes made by new general manager John Chayka, who started last month. The team also fired their head coach after a bad season.

John Chayka says Judd Brackett's experience in scouting and Freddie Hamilton's business skills will help the team.

The Maple Leafs have the first pick in the NHL draft this month after winning the draft lottery.
