Pascal Rhéaume Named Coach of Toronto Sceptres

Pascal Rhéaume is a 2003 Stanley Cup champion with 14 years of coaching experience.

Former NHL player Pascal Rhéaume is the new head coach of the Toronto Sceptres.

His sister, Manon Rhéaume, is the general manager of the Detroit team.

Rhéaume replaces Troy Ryan, who left to coach the San Jose team.

Rhéaume won a Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils in 2003.

Pascal Rhéaume has coached for 14 years, including two years with the New York Islanders' affiliate. He was also a head coach for two seasons in the Quebec Junior Hockey League.

Gina Kingsbury, Sceptres GM, said Pascal brings new ideas and experience to the team. She believes he will have a big impact on the players.

The Sceptres did not make the playoffs last season. The team is changing, like all teams in the league, during this expansion phase.

Troy Ryan is now in charge of the new San Jose team.

Manon Rhéaume is the first general manager of the Detroit team.

Toronto lost two of its top scorers to the Detroit team.

Rhéaume won an AHL Calder Cup in 1995 and played 318 NHL games. He scored 39 goals and had 91 points.

Rhéaume is the second former NHL player to coach in the PWHL. The league has one coaching job left in Vancouver.

The PWHL is expanding to new cities, including Hamilton and Las Vegas.
