Only iPhone 17 Pro Users Get Some iOS 27 AI Tools

iOS 27 works on old iPhones, but the best AI features are only for new devices.

Apple said some AI features need strong hardware, so they won't work on most iPhones. Even new iPhones like the iPhone 16 Pro Max won't get all the features when iOS 27 comes out. Apple's Craig Federighi confirmed this.

Craig Federighi said the best AI features will be on the most powerful iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Only a few phones will get all the features: iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air. Some iPads and Macs will also get these features, but they need to have strong hardware.

Some features are only for these new devices, like better voices for Siri and a new way of writing text.

If you have an iPhone 16 or iPhone 15 Pro, you will still get a better Siri experience. You will get a new assistant, a new app, and some other features. But some features like voice customization will only be on newer devices.

If you want the best voices and writing features, you need to get an iPhone 17.

This is not the only big change Apple announced. Siri AI will be available to the public in the fall, but not in the European Union or China at first. It will come out in two parts.
