'My nightmare neighbours complain when I use bathroom - even my fan is too loud'

A London resident has revealed how her downstairs neighbours are turning her existence into a nightmare through an endless stream of grievances. The 30 year old woman shares her London flat with her cat - but since settling in, she's faced mounting criticism from those living beneath her.
The household below, comprising a couple with two youngsters aged one and nine, plus a dog, initially took issue when the woman would access her wardrobes whilst getting dressed at 8am.
However, she's also revealed they object whenever she uses her own bathroom, positioned directly above their sleeping quarters, should she remain awake beyond 10pm.
She explained: "Because of their complaints, I put in a new rug (on top of a fully carpeted flat), started using a robot vacuum, and have been hyper aware of noise.
"Now they are complaining that my standing fan vibrations are too loud. When I measure at home, its an avg of 40db when next to the fan, but they send me snapshots of noise levels at 50 dB.
"I have a medical condition and thus night sweats and I've slept with fan for years and no complaints from neighbours. I've already put vibration dampeners and a quilt down to minimize sound. They're now asking me to get a tiny bedside fan or buy a brand new expensive one.
"Am I unreasonable to decline? I think noises are part of daily living, especially if you live in an old conversion. I hear their baby constantly, and their son playing video games, them cooking etc.
"I use earphones plugs at night as otherwise I get woken up by the sounds of the son getting ready for school at 7am. They're not being rude about, it but I do think their demands are unreasonable."
Following posting her situation on the R/HousingUK community on Reddit, numerous individuals responded to recount their own tales of troublesome neighbours and conflicts.
One respondent commented: "I had something similar to this a long time ago, essentially whatever we did to help they would just continue to complain. Eventually we just said we've done everything we can and that all further complaints must go to the management company or the council.
"I think a device was put into their flat to measure the noise and it was all within normal levels so the council didn't take them seriously."
Another wrote: "Yeah sorry they're being ridiculous. When you have neighbours you have to expect some noise. They can't control when you use your bathroom and get ready on a morning.
"You've done what you can to limit the noise but unfortunately when you live below someone you can't expect silence. If that's what they want they need to go buy a detached house."
A third contributor stated: "I absolutely hate noise and am very sound sensitive. But it's my problem, you know? Next time I move I'll get a detached house.
"The only time it's not my problem is if it's during unreasonable hours. Nothing you've mentioned seems unreasonable. They need to get some earplugs.
"If you feel like being petty next time they ask you to get a dampener, ask them to get one for their baby."
