I gave my son a kidney and I'm thankful for the NHS

Now, I want to tell you about a new TV show called The Pitt. It's about a busy hospital in the US and you should watch it for a few reasons.
The show is well-researched and acted, and it shows how bad the US healthcare system is. The hospital in the show is very busy, like our hospitals in the UK, but what happens when patients are seen is very different. In the US, hospitals have to save lives, but after that, patients have to pay for more treatment.
In The Pitt, patients ask doctors if they really need tests because they can't afford them. Doctors are also under a lot of stress to work faster and cut corners. A construction worker needs expensive care, but he and his wife don't have health insurance and don't earn enough to buy it.
I saw how bad the US system is when my son had kidney problems in Florida. He had travel insurance, but the hospital wouldn't help him until he paid upfront, which he couldn't do. I had to send him money, and then they treated him and sent him home, but it cost a lot of money.
My experience at a UK hospital was very different. I had to wait four hours to be seen, but then the doctors and nurses took good care of me and did lots of tests without charging me anything.
My experience made me realize how much we take the NHS for granted. Some politicians and media want to privatize the NHS, but they only talk about the bad things and not the good things, like how everyone gets free treatment.
The star of The Pitt, Noah Wyle, said that the US system is bad because insurance companies get in the way of doctors and patients. He thinks everyone should have universal coverage, like in the UK.
The NHS is not perfect, but it's still one of the best things about the UK. We should be careful when we vote and make sure we don't choose people who want to hurt the NHS.
We should appreciate the NHS and make sure it stays safe.
NHS is great.
