Mr Collins from The Other Bennet Sister deserved better

I think Mr Collins in The Other Bennet Sister deserved better.

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice shows Mr Collins as a funny character who likes high social class. He is not very good with people and talks about Lady Catherine de Bourgh a lot.

Many adaptations of Pride and Prejudice have shown Mr Collins as a silly person, like in the 2005 film and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but The Other Bennet Sister is different.

Mr Collins is often shown as a comedic character.

The Other Bennet Sister is the first to show Mr Collins in a kinder way, and it's nice to see. He gives Mary Bennet good advice about being happy and making her own path.

The scenes with Mr Collins and Mary are very touching, and it's surprising that they have chemistry. It makes you wonder what could have been if Mrs Bennet hadn't interfered.

Sadly, Mr Collins is often alone in the library while his wife Charlotte focuses on their estate and avoids him.

Mr Collins and Mary Bennet had unexpected chemistry.

Charlotte married Mr Collins for practical reasons, not love, and it seems they are both unhappy. This makes Mary want to find her own way.

Mr Collins is unhappy despite doing what society expects, and he wants to find happiness. He and Mary are similar in that they are both overlooked.

In Pride and Prejudice, Mr Collins tried to help the Bennets keep their home, and he's not all bad. He wanted to marry one of the daughters to keep the estate in the family.

Mr Collins has been treated unfairly, but The Other Bennet Sister shows him in a new light.

It's interesting that Mr Collins didn't marry Mary or Kitty in Pride and Prejudice, as it could have saved the family's home. Perhaps it was a plot hole, but it allowed for Elizabeth and Darcy's romance.

Compared to Mr Wickham, Mr Collins is a good person who gets criticized for being annoying. It's time to rethink his character and maybe give him his own series.
